The rational viewpoint here is, what he did was wrong because at the end of the day he broke the rules. Now the fact that it was a joyous and excited fan who was embraced by Haaland himself, does make the situation better. However, clubs dont want to set a precedent where its ok to go on the pitch and jump on players under the justification of doing it out of pure love and passion. Personally, I think Haaland himself might ask the club not to punish him.

I sincerely hope that that doesn't happen. Simply because that would set off another round of media outrage against City.

All clubs are trying to stop people going on the pitch.
