I didn’t moan about the team’s performance.
In fact, I didn’t moan about anything else from last night.

Was there a real opera singer? Couldn’t spot them. Was there really a choir? Didn’t see them. Don’t mind either but it sounded like a c60 tape cassette.
 
Wasn't at game but missed lights and smoke sky made a point of showing the screen and then showing all the singing instead of city v chelsea live after the commercial, but you do know that it was about 3 players who played for city, so it was a good thing to do

No the smoke and light show was NOT the tribute to Skip Denis and Bobby. The smoke and light show was the loud stuff before the teams came out. The tribute was when the teams were in the centre.
As I've said earlier, I have no opinion on lightshows, don't really mind, or hate. But, I found having this one five minutes before a tribute to the club's greatest ever servant quite disrespectful. It really wasn't the day for the pr machine to thump out words and pictures about the *current* era. A missed opportunity to show the movingly made Tony Book tribute video on the big screen.
 
Well, obviously I am going to have a moan. But, in fairness, it could have been worse, and I know I am not who it's for, so let the kids and the tourists enjoy themselves. The tribute to the Skip was class though.

If we want to do it really well though - take a leaf out of PSG's book - they made our 'show' look like a 3 year old's Birthday Party at MacDonalds. Every Blue around me in Paris had their phones out for that one.

And, yes, as ever, it's the slow Americanisation of English football (and don't get me wrong, I love my NFL), if it stops at a few lazers, that's fine with me...but not everything that's great for TikTok and TV is necessarily good for football.

Next time I want an operatic version of "we never win at home..." with full orchestral support pre-match.
Half time should be a simple bassoon solo rendition of "woooooooaahh! You're shit aaaaaahhhhgggggg" with interpretative dance from the 115 troupe, followed by throwing some Christians to the lions...

Not sure a bassoon, or even a contra bassoon would do the trick for that.
