I have to say The Blair Witch Project freaked me out too - I saw it early and before any hype was around the film and genuinely believed it was a documentary shot that way........yeah, it blew my mind for a while!!

Mine was a film in the 70's can't remember its name but it was set in Africa, and there was a plague of soldier ants eating its way across the country, devouring everyone in their path. I was about 6 at the time and was terrified of ants for years afterwards

Recall watching The Warriors a couple of weeks before going to New York aged 20 and shitting myself thinking every area of the city was rife with gangs dressed in fancy dress armed with baseball bats or on roller blades and the subway was a no go zone….. was afraid to go out at night. Proper ruined the trip!
