Probably a "Top of the Pops" one with pretend songs inside and a bird in a bikini on the cover.

Like so???

As Blockbuster was my first single.....this was my first album. Set Me Free and No You Don't got me into Hard Rock, before I even knew it had a name....

Ziggy Stardust and The Spiders from Mars - purchased from Rumbelows in Stockport!

Crikey, you both bought the best album of all time as your first purchase - everything else must have sounded shit after that!

I'm glad to say my first proper album (i.e. money handed over in shop) was by a Manchester band.
And it was purchased after a home game on a Saturday too. At half time I asked my dad what he'd bought mum for her birthday which was on the Sunday. Needless to say he'd forgotten it so at FT we had to dash to town to get cards and presents.
He gave me a tenner hush money and I bought this. Still one of my favourite albums.

Yeah everything else was a bit downhill after that, except when Radiohead's OK Computer came along, then things did not seem so bad after all
