Whoops the picture hadn’t come up when I posted and I waited ages!!! Sorry @DiscoSteve wasn't being sarcastic. Must have been my slow phone. :-)The invisible man?
We had a coal “hole” inbetween the kitchen and the lav.
I remember ties being described as pointers. Made me smile and quite apt. Pretty much always wore one to work and have a good selection myself but can't remember the last time I saw either of my sons wearing one. They have both rung me in the past to ask "Dad can I borrow a black tie" ....Good, ties are the devils attire
turned down a job once because they insisted I wore a tie, pointless piece of "clothing"I remember ties being described as pointers. Made me smile and quite apt. Yes and next to where the bins were. One of our bin men once tried to nip into the lav in the yard and our mam told him no. (Dad was a miner but that was a whole level above working on the dustbins.)We had a coal “hole” inbetween the kitchen and the lav.
But most of them do have a point - hence the name "pointers" ...turned down a job once because they insisted I wore a tie, pointless piece of "clothing"
What's next, a track suit and trainers ?Used to be BBC newsreaders dressed suitably as invited guests in the nation's living rooms but News 24 presenter Lewis Vaughan Jones has dispensed with the formal collar and tie and now turns up in an open neck shirt as he announces death and destruction at home and abroad.

All the other news networks manage to dress their male presenters appropriately for their job but our publicly funded broadcaster is happy to irritate a substantial proportion of the older British population like me who expect traditional standards to be upheld.
Most people I see out nowadays look like tramps, no dress sense at all…….tracksuits & trainers are for the gym not the pubBut most of them do have a point - hence the name "pointers" ...
Jimmy SavileWho thought that wearing tracksuit bottoms was a good look ?
My nomination for scruffiest BBC presenter is climate editor Justin Rowlatt.Used to be BBC newsreaders dressed suitably as invited guests in the nation's living rooms but News 24 presenter Lewis Vaughan Jones has dispensed with the formal collar and tie and now turns up in an open neck shirt as he announces death and destruction at home and abroad.
