Anyone else not religious at all but raised to eat fish on Good Friday and still stick to it?

Grammar school boy, always fish on a Friday at school. Only a small number of Catholic kids, (Italian and Polish mostly), also seemed to have it at home despite no religious background. Still have fish sometimes out of habit.
Be interested to know if other folks with no religious background just fell into it as habit.

Lapsed Catholic, non demoninational Grammar School, so hell knows why but I still do fish on Good Friday; got the offspring in the habit too.

I know it was tongue in cheek but you can still get 3 haddock or cod fillets for around a fiver at Supermarkets. Bit of flour, egg wash and panko bread crumbs along with a few frozen chips and a tin of mushy peas and you’re looking at no more than £2.50 a portion, about the cost of the cheapest butty these days and just a quid more than half a Fray Bentos pie without the veg/chips.

It’s an emulsion of veg oils and water, nothing plastic about that.

It’s always been used in baking, my friend.
