Popped into level 2 on my way up to 3rd tier in the east stand and have to say £5.50 for a steak and ale pie (however nice) is a disgrace, couldn't believe for that price it didn't come with chips (or something!), other pies were £3.80 which is bad enough

Service on level 3 was as bad as ever however.

I got cold mash with mine

Well, I can leave home slightly earlier, call at a chippy and off license not too far away from the stadium, procure a fish chips and curry sauce, plus a tinny of Red Stripe or similar, sit in the car and devour and the cost will be less than a fiver
Stadium food is for emergencies only and at those prices if I'm caught in an emergency situation I think I'll be leaving the stadium hungry
£5.50 for a fucking pie and £3.50 for a portion of chips!!!!!!!!!
My chips cost £2.70, up 20p from last year. Or is there a gourmet chip offering that i'm unaware of?

Re: Jamie Oliver Food At The Etihad – The Truth!

So was the food the exact same stuff that was being churned out to the select few the other week by Jamie?

Re: Jamie Oliver Food At The Etihad – The Truth!

Excellent food (a few of us bought a selection to share), prices perhaps a little steep, great idea - but as with so much that is supposed to make the "fan's match day experience" so enjoyable (excepting the actual football) - POOR DELIVERY! - we don't seem to grasp the concept of crowds and demand.
Small standing height tables or those long tables as at Wembley would be a good idea - a lot of money to spend to have to juggle drinks and drop food on the floor.

Re: Jamie Oliver Food At The Etihad – The Truth!

Steak and Ale pie with creamy mash potato was fantastic, first time I've actually enjoyed the food at the ground since we moved in. A bit pricey but I replaced my second half time pint with a pie so didn't really spend anymore than usual and liked the fact they sell beer at the food stand rather than queuing twice.

Re: The Food

Service has always been terrible, but last night it plumbed new depths; absymal.

The guy taking our order looked frightened witless, spoke so quietly that I couldn't hear him and had to keep leaning into him saying "Sorry ?". He couldn't work the till and spent about 30 seconds trying to find the right button for each item; he got the order wrong and had to do it again - four times. He kept making hot chocolate instead of coffee, then peering into the cup for ages trying to work out what it was. Then he couldn't tell which pies were which flavour, so he had to go off and consult a coloured A4 chart, but even then he seemed to end-up just guessing. At one point he took away a pie saying it was the wrong flavour, put it back on the shelf, then after much soul-searching, he picked-up exactly the same pie and brought it back to us.

He couldn't work out how much change to give us, or how to get the till to tell him, so we had to tell him it was £4.20. His supervisor came over in the end and she then asked us for our order again from scratch. Then she told him he had charged us the wrong amount. Then she asked us to pay and we said "We already have" which caused her to stare perplexed at the till again for several minutes.

Apologies to the lads behind us in the queue because we were literally just over 20 minutes getting our order (I looked at my watch as we arrived and when he finished).

I felt sorry for the server - he was desperately out of his depth (although I do wonder; how hard can it be to take someone's order and get the right food ?)

I take everyone's point about not eating in the ground, but I hadn't had any tea and thought some chips and cup of coffee would be good ... and I think I could expect that to be fairly straightforward ... but it really was appalling. At the end of all that, my chips and coffee were luke-warm at best, so didn't really enjoy them anyway. Somehow, as the football gets better and better, the food / service seems to get ever worse.

'Miserable git' mode over now - sorry.

Still, the match was great !

Re: Jamie Oliver Food At The Etihad – The Truth!

Five and a half quid for a pie? 6 pound odd for a hot dog? Sounds like Wembley prices to me......I'm out thanks.

Re: The Food

Was interested to give it a try. £4.90 for a burger from one of the vans. Burger was nice and meaty all though could have done with more seasoning in the actual making of the burger (onion, paprika and ground coriander would have helped it immensely).

Whilst expensive, my only criticism is that there was a small part of it that was still a bit raw, which I realised too late as it was already down my gullet. Proper got the shits this morning, hope it's nothing more than that.

Re: The Food

I can't believe anyone would pay the prices for food at the ground, it's bad enough having to pay the price for beer, so the food has no chance with me, anyone paying £6 for a burger wants their head feeling

Re: The Food

So very disapointing after all the hoo haa with Oliver the burger looked nothing like the ones on the web site promotion they did a few weeks ago where was the pickle, will not buy food again dont like the prices but more than happy to pay if its good quality which it was not.

You get that from the gourmet one (blue writing front) where all the prices are higher

Re: The Food

Went to the City Chippy just after 6 for chips and curry sauce - decent as ever and £3.10.

Thought I'd try a hot dog before kick-off in 202 but surprise, surprise, there were none ready. Beer queue was OK but the Amstel went off, never to return. Got a standard hot dog at half-time, with onions (requested) and vile mustard (not). The stand with sauces and sugar is now at the back of the concourse so you have to negotiate a crowd just to get there. No paper napkins.

Heard plenty of people complain about price of pies and absence of chicken Balti.

Half-time beer "queue" was shambolic - servers who presumably operated the tills before kick-off couldn't work them or keep track of who had paid what. Must get better.

I had a cheeseburger that was decent compared to last years shite, however in East Stand Level 3 the choices are sparse? None of the premium burgers and pies? Wtf is with that, our money not good enough now?

Middle Colin Bell lower, queued 15 mins ( although I think the queues will get shorter due to lack of demand) Decided whilst queuing on a beef burger and a Bleu Cheese burger, they had no Bleu cheese , ended up with two cheese burgers £6.10 each (a slice of cheese on top) portion of chips £2.70 and a small bottle of coke £2.50 ! less than £3 change out of £20 ! I thought despite other grumbling the chips were excellent, my Burger was nice, but nothing spectacular, my sons burger was too well done and slightly crispy. In all the food is decent but restaurant prices. Now seen as we have already contributed for entrance and the price of a seat, why do they have to charge such a high prices ! £2.50 for a small bottle of water.. FFS ! Bottom line, decent food but the fans are being ripped off by excessive profit margins. Surely they don't need that extra revenue !

Couldn't find the new Jamie Oliver Fan Fayre places on CB Level 2 or 3. Where are they? Had to settle for a dried up cold hot dog for £4.50 that must have been sitting on the shelf for 20 mins. Bars seem even more inefficient than last season (new tills, new staff, etc.). I'll either stick to the pies or get something outside the ground in future. Not impressed.

Not sure how you struggled to find them. All of the food outlets appeared to be Fanfayre (they were even outside too weren't they?). I bought the Pulled Pork Hot Dog on Level 2 before heading up to Level 3 where they were actually selling them also. Pricey yes, but tasty. Unfortunately if you choose to eat and drink at any entertainment venue or stadia then you get charged these kind of prices. Thankfully it's good quality at the Etihad. No queues at all although that was at about 7:15pm. Overall I was fairly impressed.
