The forgotten few

Siddall was one of our loan keepers of the 80s and played a handful of games when Nixon fell out of favour. Bobby Mimms and Mike Stowell also had loan spells in the late 80s. I would view Coops as a successful signing, came in as experienced backup to Dibble, if Margetson had been drafted in we may not have gone up in 88/9 ...

Ousmane Dabo. One of Joeh Barton's victims.

Met him over here when he very briefly trained with the New England Revolution. Never got on the field as I recall. A pretty mild-mannered decent bloke.

Ken Mulhearn. How the Heck did he keep big Joe out of the line up for even a single game?!?
Joe came a bit later than Mulhearn. Ken was competing with Harry Dowd during the Championship winning season. Joe was very raw and somewhat error prone back then and only made a handful of appearances before the 1969-70 season.

Harry was considered suspect because he was rather short for a goalkeeper. Mulhearn was signed as reserve after being swapped for Alan Ogley. Mulhearn got into the team, possibly through injury to Dowd and stayed there. He fell out of favour after elimination from European Cup to Fenerbache, the following season.

Dowd stayed there for much of the season but was replaced by Corrigan the following season. The joke was that Dowd seemed to have a blinder and concede two goals while Joe would have a stinker and let one in. Once Joe had reduced his errors, there was no contest.
