The FTSE

Essential what is going on here is small retail investors are piling into poor quality stocks that by all rights should be going down in order to artificially boost them up. It is inevitable that many people will get burned. In the stock market there are 2 parties to every trade and for everyone buying and selling at a profit there has to be someone on the other side trading at a loss.

There is a wider story about hedge funds and short positions but don't let that distract you from the fundamental above.
I think you need to look a little deeper into what and why the GameStop carry on is going on, it's far bigger than a few retail investors trying to drive up the SP of a failing business

this is the major problem.

A few people making short term money on shit companies because of internet rumours is not good for the markets and peoples investments and pensions long term.

my long term funds and the markets are all now taking a hit as confidence in the markets starts to suffer.
Hi, what's a pension?

Sincerely,
Not A Boomer

This is the other one that Reddit is apparently getting involved with at the moment.

800% in a day yesterday.

I imagine the people on Reddit telling everyone to keep their stocks for some principled reason have cashed out at the peak already.
