The lying bastards have formed a new government.
The lying bastards who thought they were gonna form a new government won't 'cos they were beaten into second place by the lying bastards.
The lying bastards north of the border had a near complete whitewash against the lying bastards who had most seats in 2010.
The lying bastards who were in coalition with the lying bastards who had most seats in 2010 have been decimated.

I forecast that the lying bastards of every political persuasion and hue will continue to lie!

I disagree.

I think it's because left-wing people are often quite poor at debate and banter.

They make assertions and if anyone disagrees they quickly move to daft accusations of racism, homophobia etc, and seem genuinely astounded that anyone has dared to disagree with them.

They simply can't cope adequately with dissent, perhaps because they often stick together in social and working environments where political correctness reigns and there is not a diversity of views, so they come to believe that all normal, caring and clever people must necessarily have opinions like their own and those who don't are motivated by greed, malice and other negative traits.

This forum is moderated fairly. I suggest lefties go to the Guardian's Comment is Free section where off-message comments are ruthlessly deleted so that delicate, liberal, progressive sensibilities are not affronted.
Serious ?

Yes.

Many lefties do have a problem with debate.

This explains why lefties are so keen on political correctness, which they use as a way of severely restricting what anyone is allowed to say and constrains conversation in a way which they like.

When they come up against people who are not advocates of political correctness and who speak freely they simply can't cope with the discussion and quickly start to splutter and rant about racism, homophobia etc in an attempt to shut down debate altogether.

In face to face situations this approach often works as people just back off to avoid unpleasantness, realising they are talking with an intolerant loony.

But on a lightly and fairly moderated internet forum such as this, where debate is allowed to carry on, lefties often have no option but to absent themselves from an arena which they can't deal with.

You can be left of centre and still know that whole "politically correct" thing is stupid and an affront to the principles of free speech. I got banned from here once for saying the Prophet Mohammed was a bit of a so and so.

Stop generalsing.

Generalisation can be useful.

Not all lefties are intolerant of debate, or poor at it, but many are.

You don't get competent at debate by shouting down opposition with allegations of racism, sexism etc almost every time you meet someone who dares to disagree with you.

Les Leggett lost in his local election standing aswell. Gutted for him, could have had 5 years of hilarity with that.

In my area at least, UKIP seem to be splitting the Tory vote rather than gaining from Labour. Not really the same nationally where they are decimating the Independent votes and taking from Lib Dems or Labour elsewhere.

He's been around a while. We used to call his name out when we were kids jumping hedges in peoples gardens.

Political Gangsta.

People can say all they want about Cameron and they should say what they want actually cos personally I think he is a right you know what but you cannot ignore the fact that this guy knows how to play the game of British politics- He knows the streets so to speak and is a ruthless political gangsta who has annihilated all his opposition while keeping a smiling face.

He has destroyed the Lib dem party. From the moment he hustled for a coalition government in the previous election , which spelled the end of the relevance of the lib dems. The lib dems are finished as I don't see how they can convince anyone in England or Wales to vote for them in the future and this is due in many parts to the deadly alliance they forged with David Cameron, who drew them close to him, laughed and joked with them and when no one was looking, he went for the kill and dumped their bodies in the garbage bin.

He has devastated the Labour party. People may not appreciate the significance of what has happened in Scotland in terms of its effects on the Labour party but it is huge, historic for that matter. Although not willing to allocate all the credit to Cameron, but he may very well have calculated that calling a referendum will lead to the up-rise of Scottish Nationalism, which will tarry and continue after the referendum as there is more awareness, more energy and a sense of Scottish National Identity, which will mean that more people will vote for SNP regardless of campaign by other parties. This will only stand to benefit David Cameron as the strong labour bastion in Scotland will switch to SNP thus eliminating any chance of the Labour party getting enough seats to pretend themselves eligible to form at least a coalition government. No one thought it will be this bad but it has been a Blitz, a wipe out of Labour in Scotland.
David Cameron also understood and tapped into the perceptions and emotions of the English people. "The Scottish are coming" was a major and successful election campaign inneundo as he managed to convince the English that the Conservative party is the party for England, "This is England" so to speak and if they vote for Labour they may more or less get a coalition government between the Labour Party and the Scots, which was a master stroke card played by Cameron, and it worked.
So Cameron has managed to make the conservative party the party of England, which is consistent to the rise in Nationalism all over the country and Europe. Conservatives for England, (UKIP for angry nationalist that want to blame everybody else for their problems), SNP for Scotland, DUP for Northern Ireland and as for Wales, they go where England go. So there is no room for Labour in British politics and this should be horrifying and they need to really work very very hard to keep the party afloat because what happened yesterday was historical and the political landscape of Britain has changed forever.

David Cameron also managed to get in and frustrate the UKIP and beat them in their own game of tapping into the emotions of the unstable and has taken a seat from them.

All in all this has been an election master class from David Cameron. Whether it is because he has the backing of the elite, or he is just a political strategist with a brilliant political mind or it is because everything just fell into place for him and his party, David Cameron is the only one left standing in England as he forms another government.

I've studied British politics and I know for a fact that the difficulties of trying to govern with such a small majority is a nightmare. It's something that hasn't been seen since the 70's so peopledon't realise and the media is too thick to. They will cotton on shortly. Cameron will be the captive of by-election results in no time and mark my words, he will repeatedly come over as a twat. Even if he weren't a twat, this would be true. Even if he didn't have a shiny face, this would be true. Even if he wasn't an arrogant arse-hole who is hated by 60 of his own disruptive, bat shit right-wing MP's, it would be true. And then there's Scotland and the Euro Referendum to negotiate and the inevitable mid-term descent into minority government and deals done in secret with Ulster fucking Unionist loonies.

This will make John Major's poisoned chalice of an election victory look like the best thing that ever happened to the Tory Party I am getting my popcorn out. It's going to be great fun.
That's a hell of a brave face you're putting on it.

But it's bollocks. The majority is actually far higher given Sinn Fein not taking their seats, the DUP as natural allies on most thing, the same with UKIP and a number of independents. The majority in real terms is around 18.

The Tories will be over the moon

Stop calling Labour supporters 'left wingers' they aren't left wingers, they are fucking retards.

Anybody with a truly left-wing outlook who votes for any of the main political parties is a gullible fool. Labour especially though, at least the Tories actually work for the people who vote for them, the fabulously rich and the right leaning middle classes.

I read all this crap in 92, 97 and so on, it's just political hype they will be voted out when people tire of them

I would imagine they would be jumping for joy. They got in on the quiet when every poll before polling day was predicting a hung parliament with a minority party having to act as ballast and suddenly it;s bye bye Lib Dems, bye bye Labour in Scotland and hello 10 Downing Street.

Love them or loath them, having another term is better for the country as we get consistency and a continuation of policies rather than another lot in trying to change things to their way of thinking.

I don't think it was an election master class at all; in fact I think he looked a defeated man as he walked to the polls.
He has been lucky with the rise of UKIP and the SNP and the pieces fell into place for him. There wasn't a master plan as such, in fact I'm pretty sure he was as surprised as anyone at a Tory majority.
I've never minded Cameron that much to be honest. Compared to a Tory like Esther McVey he is even almost likeable. Thank God she lost her seat, horrible creature.

Can't say I'm looking forward to 5 years of the Tories .
I'm sorry but what?

Major won in 1992 and held an election 5 years later in 1997.

Look lefties, I know you're looking for bright sides but Cameron has just played a fucking blinder. The Tories will still be here in 5 years, most probably with Dave passing the baton to Boris in 3 or 4 years.

They have a sizeable working majority and a real mandate for power. To label the events of the last 24 hours as anything other than an unexpected and resounding Tory victory is ridiculous and down to wishful thinking and hurt pride.

The issues are for Labour to work out who they can elect to lead them, and whether that person will move it the right, like Blair, to make themselves electable in England. They will also have to work out what to do in Scotland, Blair worked in England, but with the SNP now being a truly left leaning popular political party in Scotland, any such move as described but stand no chance north of The Wall. In effect,mLabour look like they've just permanently lost 50 or so core votes. And they will be fucking hard to get back.

As I say, if it makes people feel better to say there is a silver lining, then fair enough, but don't be surprised if few others share your delusion.
