Well, the papers, and radio, have announced that the General Election has now kicked off. The NHS has already been in the headlines, and this this beauty is from the Torygraph:

Labour Tax on 'Wealthy English' to Fund Scots Nurses
The Daily Telegraph highlights Scottish Labour leader Jim Murphy's election pledge that the national party's planned "mansion tax" on homes worth more than £2m would help fund 1,000 extra nurses in Scotland. The paper suggests the move would see "wealthy English" homeowners funding the devolved Scottish NHS.

If he did say this. He must be blindingly stupid

I was worried about a Labour/UKIP coalition last week. However. After seeing the backlash of the story 'road poster' and the previews of tomorrow's papers it looks like the media has made their choice.

The Tories look like they'll be hammered with bad publicity, which will hopefully means a Labour majority and no UKIP involvement.

Then sit back and watch businesses close. The dole queue grow and the scroungers jump for joy.

He's only interested in how well Labour does in Scotland. If he prevents the SNP from taking half of their seats he will regard it as a personal victory. Even if the Tories retain power in the UK

At the moment it looks like the NHS is the big story. But it could turn out to be a double edged sword for Labour if they push it too much.

Labour didnt pledge to protect the NHS from cuts in 2010. Burnham's repeated scaremongering about privatisation doesnt seem to be borne out by the facts, commercial contracts only represent 6% of spending, compared to 5% under Labour. Burnham's own record as Health Minister was hardly an unqualified success.

Apart from perhaps the Tories ill advised re-organisation there doesnt seem to be much reason to believe that the NHS would be coping any better under Labour. And the current A&E crisis clearly isnt entirely, or even largely, down to the re-organisation.

Farage will undoubtedly try to turn the increased demands on the NHS into an immigration issue, which, if he is successful, will damage Labour.

Most Labour voters make their choice based on 'Labour' being a noun they like the sound of. There isn't a cat in hell's chance that the majority of them (about 2/3 according to recent surveys) will choose to do anything other than vote Labour. Their choice is completely unrelated to what the Labour Party do or say they will do. This explains why Labour politicians happily dump on the poor to line their own pockets whenever they get the chance. There is no reason why the Labour Party should take account of their core voters' feelings, needs or desires. They just need to say things that some of the more gullible swing voters will latch on to.

well i never, you posted without any abuse of the hardworking MP's that represent the government.

Reposting this image from the Paris shootings thread as a reminder to Labour voters that it was the Labour Party who put the mocking of religion on an equal footing with racism.
