Can anyone remember his name? Was it Abu or something? I was just looking on the player roster on the official site to try and track down some information and he was not there. Has anybody been following him? Has he been playing many games? I don't think I have heard anything about him since we signed him.

From what i remember he made an initial decent impact, powerful and committed.Like you though,i've heard nothing recently.

A bit of news from mid November that I seemed to have missed. Seems they are having a winter break. I wonder if it's finished yet.

A titbit from Ghanasoccernet posted on Newyears day.

The last time I spoke to Mohammed Abu, he told me he was working hard enough wrest the holding midfield role from Nigel de Jong at Eastlands and he is well on course.

It did not take him time to break into the Stromsgodset first eleven when he arrived for a loan spell in August, helping them to lift the NM Cup which gave them an automatic qualification for next season’s Uefa Europa League.

Abu is superior in midfield, can square up and create decent chances to score and also plays a deep lying role.

He is rated high at the Eastlands and as he returns to train with them before the Norwegian season City reserves coach will be proud of his signing

If he is really like De Jong he has a future with us as we are sorely lacking in that department. When De Jong is injured/suspended/rested, our defence instantly looks like its having a nervous breakdown. IMO, Barry doesn't play the same role as De Jong and we could use someone with De Jong's tenacity and ability to break up play so easily and if this boy can be it, that is great news.

From GhanaSoccer.net

Manchester City midfielder Mohammed Abu has told GHANsoccernet.com he is delighted with his progress on loan in Norway.

The 18-year-old ball holding midfielder was signed last August but farmed out to Norwegian side Stromsgodset till June 2011.

Tagged the ‘New Makelele’, he helped Stromsgodset qualify for next season’s Europa Cup by winning the NM Cup.

He said: “Everything has been good so far, I arrived in the middle of the season and enjoyed playing time.”

“The coach studied my progress and I can see he is well satisfied with me. But I am not resting. I am training hard every day.

Abu is aiming at securing a permanent place at Eastlands when his loan deal expires in June.

“My performance should improve so I hold down a place at City. It’s my dream.

“Pre-season has already begun and we are leaving for Spain on the 15th for a month training tour. We will play FC Basel and FC Zurich.”

Abu is aiming to be invited into Ghana’s Under-20 team.
