The first couple of days have been really predictable but today and tomorrow are more competitive and I would imagine the bookies will recoup their money. The extra day definitely dilutes the quality of the festival and everyone is chasing money. Have done a lot of work at the racecourse over the years connecting the phone lines to the tote and tented village and it’s one of my favourite courses

In days of yore, I used to get to Cheltenham early and then walk the course, but I doubt that would be allowed these days.

I did take my Canadian lady to show her Cheltenham on a non-race day in 2018 and they kindly took us out onto the course so she could see the fences and hurdles close up.

You’re right, it’s a lovely racecourse and standing at the bottom looking up to the finish and the stands is a great sight. The TV doesn’t even come close to showing what a climb it is to the winning post.
