Best way for Labour to get their act together is for it's Gorton voters to elect the Green candidate and force them to actually get their act together.

Labour seem to be clueless in matters of politics, policies and strategy... still there'll be lots of spilt milk being sobbed over come May. But lets not forget it will NOT be their fault.

Labour's strategy under Starmer is to copy the french model and guilt trip people into holding their nose and vote for a tepid candidate who stands for nobody and believes in nothing, selling it as the only means to keep out the far right. And then they call anyone who doesnt do that a fash enabling c*nt.

If Gorton goes Reform that's Labour's fault, not the Greens. Hopefully it goes Green and it serves as a wake up call to Labour that they need to do much better.

Yep, it seems Labour are sleepwalking into oblivion. Sad state of affairs because after waiting 14 years to get in they have dropped the ball big time and allowed a shower like Reform to potentially get their foot in the door.
It's a murky looking future ahead.

If I'm wrong about you voting reform then of course I'll apologise and hold my hands up but unless there's a poster with a very very similar username I'm sure that namesake has posted several times previously that reform will get their vote.

Just a shame Labour have lost so much support in such a short space of time. Only themselves to blame.

The last GE like many before was won on a protest vote and no great enthusiasm for Labour. At the time they appeared to be the best choice available. However, I've always taken the view that Starmer was also the best choice available in what was a very poor leadership contest. His performance in the one GE debate with Sunak was poor given the record he had to defend. Their record to date regardless of what they inherited has been poor and they seemingly have flip-flopped on too many issues giving the impressions they have not thought through any of the initial decisions they have taken. It is a Government lacking in any talent. At the moment Starmer is just dead man walking
and his demise is likely to gain impetus if he loses the Gorton election

It seems to me the good people of Gorton have forever voted Labour, surprised they aint gonna get a landslide. Maybe they haven't been great for Gorton or Denton.
I'm happy for people to vote for whoever they want, im quite big on democracy and trying to convince people to vote for a different smelling shit has never really grabbed the imagination.
It seems nothing really changes doing that.

My own view is that, by and large, Labour have done ok here. They could’ve done better of course but they’ve not been too bad overall. I’m talking as a Gorton resident and when it was Gorton before the boundary changes. I can’t speak so much about Denton but Andrew Gwynne had that seat since 2005 - always winning with a decent majority and even doing so when Reform came on the scene in 2024 - so he must’ve been popular with his constituents.

Trouble is, Gwynne’s behaviour that led to his dismissal and subsequent resignation (health grounds my arse!) has pissed a lot of people off and I think a lot of Labour voters will be reluctant to vote Labour in the by-election as a result. For me, it’s not just disillusionment with Labour at national level that has given the Greens and Reform an in - Gwynne’s antics have surely contributed too. Labour could’ve mitigated that somewhat if Burnham had been allowed to stand but by not doing so, an increased number are looking at the Greens.

There’s a long way to go yet but I do think Labour are the outsiders out of the three. They’re going to have to do a lot of persuading to get me to vote for them - as things stand, I’m voting Green.

There certainly needs to be some intelligent tactical voting in Denton/Gorton to keep Reform out, as in the last by-election in Wales. By intelligent I mean not switching from Labour to Green or SWP as some sort of limp protest and the few who voted for those two last time choosing Labour instead. There will be a lot of stupid people backing Farage sadly and he is odds on to win atm, voting Labour is the only hope of avoiding a desperately bad day for Manchester and this country.
