The happy new year thread

Mrs KS and I celebrated the New Year sat in bed with hot toddies and paracetamol having picked up a bug at Christmas.
Nothing daunted, I turned my attention to the coming year.
The Israelis say they will be fighting in Gaza for another twelve months. The war in Ukraine grinds on. The US will elect a Democrat or give up democracy by electing Trump.
On more important matters, I considered the prospects for City. Some commentators are saying the title is now ours to lose. Hmmmm…just because we have had great runs in the spring in recent seasons, there is no reason to conclude it will happen again. I predict a real battle with the dippers. Arsenal lack firepower, Spurs are Spursy, and both Villa and the Barcodes are not ready yet. The rags, of course, are miles behind.
We have plenty or reasons to be optimistic for the future: young players like Doku, Bobb and Lewis are pushing for regular places. Foden has achieved lift off—Pep keep him in the middle, please— and Haaland and Kev are nearly fit. Stones is a worry as is cover for the overworked Rodri.
This team’s level of professional pride is massive(!) and we know every player will give everything week in week out.
There will be silverware again.
We have to overcome the ludicrous PL and their charges but there will be no panic with Pannick overseeing our defence.
I was very confident about the UEFA case but this one has more external domestic pressure. Will the panel succumb?
All in all it will be a busy and exciting year.
