The Harry and Meghan fuss

It's curious how many posters here are quick to condemn(rightly so, of course) the courruption and sleaze manifest in our Tory government, but turn a blind eye to corruption and sleaze manifest in our wonderful Royal Family. I could give a fuck about any tenuous idea of them giving more than the take to our economy; the London Underground drags millions to our capital each year, but their drivers aren't housed in palaces and given free meal tickets for the rest of their lives. Public sector workers are being shafted and struggling to make ends meet, whilst these fucking criminals are still stealing millions from the public purse. And for what? To dress prettily and wave in front of the mass-manipulated.

Merry Christmas to any Royalists on here, your gift this year can be a bucket of ice cold water. Dip your head in it and you might start seeing sense for New Year.
I'm not sure the yanks would go on a sightseeing tour of our trains or the drivers Houses tbh. I do believe Bob has lovely rhododendrons though.

Firstly, the underground is pretty much the one constant that facilitates sightseeing in London. But that's besides the point, some people flock to London to see palaces and royal relics, relics that date back to a time when England's subjects were treated like proverbial shit on a shoe by the ultimate thieves. But very few will visit London expecting to see the parasites in the flesh. They'd happily take pics of Buckingham palace without seeing the Firm. Versaille attracts more visitors globally than any of our palaces, but the French citizenry aren't funding a resident family of spongers. If you think tourism in London would dwindle without a Royal Family, then you need to give your head a wobble.

I'd much rather more of my taxes went to those desperate souls risking their lives to cross the Channel, than send a single penny to those outdated caracatures that, inexplicably, are deemed necessary for a 21st century Britain to function.

I do think tourism would go down, an opinion you really have no argument against due to your rather sad class warrior act. I get the idea of a royal family being morally dodgy but trying go make it an economic one is laughable.

Yeah let's give their money to the poor comrade it might get them a pot noodle.

Pmsl

Tourism wouldn't go down, because the palaces would remain. Interestingly, you don't have an argument to suggest why tourism would go down.

And class warrior act? Comrade? Not sure what the communist nomenclature is about but that's certainly not my idealogy. In fact, I accept capitalism is the only workable system in this day and age. Do I not support a team of multi-millionaires? What I do not accept is a family of freeloaders living off the fat of the land, whilst flagrantly breaking laws. And the same people who bang the royalist drum will cry foul at a young family of refugees, fleeing war, being housed in one poxy bedroom and living off three bowls of soup a day.

But still, let them eat pot noodles, or some such stupid bullshit.

Power to the people fella:-)

Watched 2/3 tonight of it

It’s really done well, as Netflix always do with these types of documentaries

But just to have a real insight into how the Royal Family work when it comes to issues is very interesting

The biggest take and what we already know is the Media are pure scum , then you have social media and bots creating a tidal wave of hatred and misinformation

the family did not help Harry or Meghan at all in order to protect the institution at all costs - and Harry acknowledges he can understand as that’s what’s ingrained to you as a member

The real power is the offices and press offices with inside the palace - they’re the ones that can change the narrative and it’s clear they’re the ones that built and then knocked down Meghan

Interesting insight , Harry and Meghan are good people. No point arguing with those who probably haven’t watched and will jump in with Farage, Piers Morgan and the Daily Mail on this one.
