The Harry and Meghan fuss

The media holding up Charles and his lover as some virtuous paragons is rather sickening. If I was Harry, and I looked at the comparative treatment of my wife, who has done relatively nothing wrong, after those same press hacks drove my mother to her grave, you can believe that I would have my say. And, if my brother and my dad did nothing to stop it, they would soon become the subject of my anger.
Crazy, isn't it? Our current monarch, the guy who is supposed to be the father figure of the nation and upholder of values and integrity, is in actual fact a philanderer who drove his wife at the time, a thourougly decent human being, to mental ruination, with the country's glorious media aiding and abetting in this insidious act.

But the issue is a black woman who had the temerity to marry into the most "British" of institutions, and her husband for having the gall to have mental hang ups over the appalling treatment of his mother.

Wow. Very curious take. I suppose Kate didn't marry into that family for money, no? I suppose, in your mind, the connotations are different when it's a black American actress and not a white upper class art student from Cambridge. And the royal family aren't some sort of class enemy; they are a class enemy. They're the starkest embodiment of class division you will ever find, what about that institution is representative of the working people of this country? Fuck all is the answer.

And I must remember never to defend my girlfriend in future, wouldn't want her to think I was "pussy whipped".
I suppose Kates background 'groomed' her for the job. Sometimes I get the feeling Meghan got the wrong end of the stick (because she's American, not black) and thought the gig would be like a Disney princess or Frozen, rather than a lifetime of meeting and greeting / being stalked and slandered / opening new council buildings
.
As for Harry and Meghan now, they are just on the grift like the Beckham's - and why not? If they've lost the trappings of royalty they have to make a living somehow, and the public on both sides of the Atlantic have a huge appetite for royal gossip.

Its only a fuss coz of coonts who know nowt and make a living out of speculating and guessing - me and my family make the Royals look like...... yeah a happy family - all families are like that its just that some leeches can bag a living off them - Dickie Arbiter took a few snaps of them and Camilla Tominey has a plum in her mouth.......both are promoted as "experts"

As you say, if they are on the grift, so be it. What's good for the goose, as they say. I find it bizarre that some object to Harry and Meghan "grifting" wealth from a private company but don't object to a family rinsing them of their taxes annually to hole up in palaces.

Anyway, the term grifting is vacuous and has little basis in reality. Is a footballer a grifter for holding a club to ransom. What about that Turkish guy who charges a grand for sub-par steaks. The wheels of a dog-eat-dog capitalist society are greased by "grifting". In essence, most people are grifters in some form.

Yeah Harrys mother was a nun, why are you dressing her up as a thoroughly decent human being when in the philandering stakes she beats Charlie hands down and with room to spare.

Just admit it, if it's anti-monarchy you're for it no matter the state of the character, a means to an end.

I suppose grifting is appropriate as they seem to be willing to whinge about having no privacy to the highest bidder that provides the largest audience/ income. Is seems hypocritical or to borrow your term vacuous - much like Beckham being sent by his Mrs to queue to see the queen to try and blag a title

“Black, White”

Yawn.

I have no time for either of them as they are hypocrites it is that simple.

Kate, unlike Diana btw, isn’t from an upper class background. She’s solidly upper-middle class. Agree that her marriage would have been rooted in ambition though. More than Meghan I’ll hazard. More driven by her parents, especially her mother, than Meghan too.

She’s definitely white, though.
