The Harry and Meghan fuss

Archie is not entitled to a title. Why should the UK tax payer pay for their security? They were warned they wouldn’t be entitled to it anymore when they fucked off.

The rules were changed before to give titles to the Cambridge children other than just George, this could have been done again but clashed with Charles wish for a smaller monarchy. If they were misled to believe that the rules would be relaxed again to accommodate Archie, then you could understand why they might be aggrieved. There is a guardian article I linked further back.

It's a fair point about the taxpayers paying for security. but then that decision was also taken to maintain the monarchy in its current state and not dilute it into a slow death by allowing a halfway house. Good decision for the Firm but bad decision for family relationship. Which is why it needs to be wound down. It's not normal or healthy to formalise favouritism of your children on birth order.

Overall, it was quite sad, but also quite uplifting in a way as well.

I think it was telling how Harry made much of taking his lad to the beach, something as a child he would never have done with his mum. Its obvious his mum is a major part of his life and he rues the fact he never grew up with her around. That has to have taken its toll on him and I understand why he would want to protect his kids from that happening to them.

I am no lover of the Royal family, but in that interview Harry came across as normal as he could possibly be. He just wants what we all want from life and I can respect that. Its obvious he loves his missus, its obvious she loves him and I wish the pair of them well. Meghan came across as reasonable and respectful to the Queen.

What it also highlighted is how toxic our media is, no person Royal family member or not should be subjected to the kind of intrusion , the barrage of lies and the negative coverage they have received for having the temerity to shun them. They are not the media's playthings, they are human beings with feelings just like everyone of us.

None of us know what it must be like to live in a family that is so suffocating and whose values are based in stoicism and servitude, thankfully most of us are free of those burdens and we should be very thankful of that.

I do hope they continue their journey and continue to highlight the things that are important to them, issues like mental health and institutional racism are barriers to many people and those barriers need to broken down and consigned to history, just as I hope one day the Royal family itself is consigned to history and they can live normal lives just as we all can.
The suffocation was the big thing that came across to me.

The other thing i found interesting but has little attention given to it was his description of Palace media relationship. That is something I have never got my head around, I usually think of royal correspondents as one step below perez hilton.

I would love a savy British based interviewer to get him to discuss the faustian pact the royals have with the media, name names and really exposes the relationship.

A poll would have been good on this thread.

Agree or disagree in what was said in the interview etc
There would have to be a couldn’t give a shit option for total inclusiveness.

I actually found it interesting in the same way I found The Crown, interesting.
Similarly, I suspect picking the absolute truth out of it would be difficult but it gives you a genuine feel for the whole sorry mess.

They really just need to fuck off, and if they want a quiet life; stop selling your arse hole to twats like James Cordon and Operah Winfrey.

Couldn’t give less of a shit apart from it being rammed down my throat because they’re constantly wanting the lime light. Whatever you say guys, we’re all a bunch of racist cunts, get Hillary to join in as well! That’ll achieve... er... I’m not quite sure really.

Inference?
"Twats on the international stage", "no international relevance".
Not exactly a love affair is it?

Why is that a dislike of a country?
Saying we have performed poorly at diplomacy and wanting us to do better.

Or having an acceptance that we are a medium sized country with declining role in global affairs and the realisation British exceptionalism harms ourselves more than anyone else.

Having a different idea and ambition of Britain doesn't make you unpatriotic. Does posting strong criticism upstairs automatically make someone a rag?

The royal family is a stuffy old dinosaur of an institution full of rules on etiquette and expectations regarding behaviour and public perception. I suspect Meghan took the gig thinking she'd shake things up a bit and drag them into the 21st century...... the firm disagreed.
