Their season ended when they beat Real Madrid and took took this to mean they were the best team in the universe.

Interesting. They won 3-1 which is an impressive result. But their first was well offside and their second was a deflection. They could bask in the glory of the scoreline, which they seem to have done, or they could accept the luck with the first two goals and realise they had to work harder on a regular basis.
But I bet any Spud who pointed out the luck they enjoyed against Madrid on a forum would have been hammered out of sight.
