Think they'll struggle this year, I see them finishing 5th or 6th and Poch will be off.

If they fail to win anything this year I can also see Alli, Kane, Alderweirld having there heads turned.

It is an odd statement and a lazy one. Levy don't wake up in the morning and say oooh I'm arrogant let's not buy any bastard.

25 years ago we nearly went bankrupt until Sugar saved us. We were millions still in debt until we sold Gazza

When Levy took over in the early 2000's we had a really crappy team. He see the likes of Leeds go down and millions into debt, people may disagree but we weren't too dissimilar for size of clubs. We've seen that with Pompey mess up too and you can pretty much say that about Villa and Sunderland I reckon

Everytime we've made a huge signing they've pretty much flopped. Off the top of my head Ferdinand 6m, Postiga 7m, Rebrov 12m, Bentley 15m, Paulinho 17m, Soldado 28m and Sissoko 30m.

Everytime we've made that huge signing which every club says we should do it's failed and it makes it hard to raise the funds again

Conte and Jose have spent huge and are having pops at Spurs because there is more pressure on them to succeed.

If you know Spurs, they will do their transfer business very late as usual. All I know is when Levy takes a gamble on smaller fees they pay Off, whereas a lot of the top clubs want an established player.

The fact we've finished above Liverpool for 7 out of 8 seasons and above United for a while now when they both have double the wages and fees I don't see a problem right now

I really don't know who or what we can buy with this current market. I'm not really a huge fan Barkley either

Really good post. Thanks.

I loved how their players were getting so agitated Saturday night. I don't think that was "fight" or "character" in the squad. That to me was "frustration".

It's only preseason so it could all change but I don't think there's much confidence in the Spurs squad going into the season. They better hope to start well. Otherwise it'll be a loooooong season for them this year I think.

I wouldn't mind if he was a bit of a hard man but he's a fucking marshmallow. Squaring up to Vinny lol.

Yeah, you could be right there. I meant more in terms of the annoyance factor on the pitch, non-stop moaner, and a player opposing fans cant abide

Chelsea at home first game for them, ooof.

I'll be happy if they're 5th or 6th but don't want Poch leaving in case the bus driver gets sacked.

I think Spurs are a talented team, with a manager who's doing an excellent job and Levy, who for all the criticism and jibes aimed at him, is also doing remarkably well. I didn't agree with his speech on unsustainable spending, but it's hard to be too critical of his work at Spurs. What would concern me though is the attitude of some Spurs fans. We beat them 3-0 in a pre-season friendly, but we're assured that such games "don't matter" by some Spurs supporters. Clubs may not win trophies in such games, and players may not be match sharp, but they certainly matter - players are playing for their places and are trying to hone their reflexes and reactions for the competitive season and you don't do that unless you give it 100%, even if that may not be tha same as 100% in September. City were clearly a lot, lot sharper and this is not because we are ahead "in our preparation" since that was only our third "warm up" game as it was Spurs. City have spent and, it seems, spent well. Areas which were weaknesses now seem strengths, and Spurs must consider City a title/top four rival. It may be food for thought for Levy.

just had an agent on SSN saying that although Spuds aint spent yet they don't need to as basically they are a top team.He also said that if all the Tottenham players were sold at once theyd make more money than any other prem team would make if they did the same.

Uh !!

Ok I'll put a bit more effort into my response, don't want to be called lazy ;-)

The original comment was Spurs are being arrogant about not buying & maybe I should have explained a bit more why. The popular view is we are a rich mans plaything without any understanding of the true value & are overpaying in the market & we shouldn't be allowed to as we have no history.

As you have mentioned your history I will mention ours & it's a proud one. We are proud of fantastic achievements of staying alive, with amazing support whilst tumbling down the divisions without a pot to piss in. If anyone ever wants to ask about mercenaries I will tell you that 10-15 years ago was when we had mercenaries but I digress.

We were then taken over & has been proven by incredibly astute businessmen that understood if they were willing to speculate that their investment would grow. In this time there has been some really poor signings but there investments have grown. They have invested in youth but understand you still need to invest in the right people for the right positions. What you cannot control too well is the position of the selling club & they have every right to ask for as much as possible but understand the worlds eyes are watching you, so if you sell for a lot your next purchase is going to be for more so your are either going to put up for the players you want or go without.

Over the last few weeks everyone was laughing at City overpaying for an incredibly gifted full back but if the brand grows around the world & the trophies come in it won't matter. Spurs have said they won't be that foolish which is fine, is it arrogant, maybe not but it certainly lacks ambition. Along with Arsenal you can battle it out about who is the most financially astute, charging your fans more than any other team & risking nothing apart from the opportunity to win trophy's and grow your brand.

Meanwhile Deli Alli et al will be looking on thinking well this is a stepping stone but I can't be here too long.
