People do change teams from time to time though, i dotn see the big deal, i used to be Charlton, then Spurs, now i'm a blue, people might knock me for this but it just took me a while to see the light, i doubt i'd mention it on tv though.
Never, you are either born into a family of supporters of a club, it is usually your local club
Umm, no?

So lets get this right, anyone who starts supporting us from now on is a glory hunter? How are we to grow as a club? Who will fill the seats midweek for the Carling Cup ties? Who will fill the seats for European games against minnows like Juventus? Do you think Sheik Mansour has spent/will spend all that money to stay exactly as we were? We still seem to have plenty of empty seats available for our modest 48000 seater stadium. If you want the club to progress then I suggest everyone welcomes new supporters. Maybe they will have kids who support City from the cradle to the grave and fulfil the "lifetime support" ideal. I have been a City season ticket holder since 1974 and welcome anyone who puts their bum on a seat and supports City. People change. Clubs change. It's called progress.

Well said

why you a blue now??

im born a blue and i'll die a blue

always admired them a bit and moved to manchester last year, so there my local team these days.

I imagine if city weren't the worlds richest club you'd have chosen the rags instead?

There are WUMs all over this thread. Notwithstanding that, it has depressed the fucking life out of me.

When we finally win a trophy I want to celebrate with like-minded souls who have suffered with me over the last 34 years. I have no interest in celebrating with someone who has chosen City as a 'lifestyle choice'.

I need a drink.

I 100% agree with you on this,it includes those who because of what we are now support us as a 2nd team aswell.

I don't care how they got here, as long as they're sincere.
Look up the "So why do you support City' thread, some great and heartwarming stories in there.

I would be highly suspicious of anyone changing their allegances as an adult but IMO its fine to as a kid (by which I mean up to the age of 10) because you're finding your way and dont know yet who you are and what you like.

When I was a kid (maybe 5 or 6 years old) I was randomly given a Crystal palace top. I say randomly because my dad and sister are rags whilst my mum and brother are blues and we're northerners....so why Palace I have no idea. Maybe my dad saw it half-price in a sports shop.
Anyway for a couple of years I supported Palace. They technically were my first club. I've still got a picture of me proudly wearing it in the back garden.

I knew shit-all when I was 5.

When I was 11 (after a couple of years of supporting BOTH City and United....I kid you not....due to my families split loyalties) I first went to Maine Road. And I fell in love and found my place in this world.
I fell in love with every single aspect of City. The journey (even now as a middle-aged man there are parts of the motorway that trigger childhood nostalgia and excitement as I'm taken back to being in my brother's car wearing my scarf and babbling about if Varadi is fit or not), the alleyways to the ground from the car, the smell of the burger vans, standing on the Kippax terracing.....every single detail is one of pure and lifelong love.

And even though I've been down to Palace several times to see City.....and nearly got my head kicked in once....and fucking hate that horrible club and their loathesome cockney wanker fans..... I will always love that Palace kit. The one Vince Hilaire wore in 1980. Proper decent top that.

Most of us are being honest, so I will.

I was a washy southerner for a good 11 years of my life. Brought up by a family not affiliated to a team... I got into football around the age of 8/9 and my best mate at the time was a lad from Warrington, he moved opposite to me when he was 7. His family were reds, and I pretty much got introduced to football by him, and them and started to kind of be a rag 'fan' wouldn't of called myself a fan as I never had the misfortune of going to the swamp. Anyway, to cut a long story short, my mum, single at the time met my now step dad on holiday when I was 10, big blue he is. They started seeing each other more and more after the holiday, and when I went up he bought me the white first advice shirt, with the red and black sash, this was in 2002. I still wasn't 100% convinced... Anyway, he ended up taking me to the last City game at Maine Road. Had a spare ticket as his Uncle had to work. From that day on, I've been blue. One of the best experiences of my life (even though we lost). Not long after we (me and mum) moved to Manchester. I'm 18 now. Never looked back. My love for this club will carry on even when I die! Runs through the blood now.

Imagine finally winning a F*ckin trophy and theres hundreds of people around us clapping like some tennis game at wimbledon....

I'll be goin' mental.... The gloryseekers can come and go for all I care - it will mean more to me.

Forgive me if I've got this wrong, but weren't you one of the ones having a serious go at Didsbury Dave?

Never had an encounter with Didsbury... there is a jay_mcfc on here, you might of mistaken me with him!

I don't really tend to engage in arguments with blues.
