'The heart has been ripped from the club I have loved'

I think you miss the point, though. He's saying that City were always regarded as the peoples club and the fans were well respected the world over. Players were able to come up through the ranks and play in the first team.

His fears are that we would give up all of that integrity which has always formed the heart of our club, and then become a figure of hate for buying our way to the top table without actually working hard for it.

Suppose the price of success is selling your soul to the devil. Look at Chelsea.

What a load of rag crap. Manure bought success. Celtic have bought success. Teams without money that work hard win feck all in the modern game. Winning silverware is the point of it all. Thats why the rags sold their soul to the corporate devil many many years ago and why you are universally hated. All teams are doing it now though to the betterment of the competition as a whole. Peoples club my arse. Universally respected my arse. Laughed at and the butt of all jokes for far too long more like. Better to be a figure of hate than a figure of ridicule. Better to be back on the top of the pile and feared as we have been before. Bring it on.

I think I dealt with him. We haven't heard from him since.

Perhaps he should write a book called "Manchester City Ruined Football"

I'm surprised Shindler didn't respond to your article - he must've seen it at some point. Perhaps his lack of response indicates that he realises what he wrote was rather silly.

It's the kind of stuff we've come to expect from Hattenstone but from the author of a book which in part bemoaned City's lack of success compared to that of our local rivals, you'd have thought that Shindler would've been happy to see City challenging at the top end of the table for a change. And comments about the heart being ripped out of the club are just stupid cliches that have absolutely no foundation whatsover for me.

Not surprisingly Shindler's article got praised by a poster on Rag Cafe who I once thought was okay but I've long since realised is as bitter and obsessed with City as any blue could ever be about the Rags. She also embarked on a totally unjustified slating of our very own Thad Williamson because of his comments regarding how he came about supporting City. Somehow, I suspect that same Rag poster would've been lauding Thad if his comments were about how he came to support the Rags rather than us.
