The "I was wrong about..." player amnesty thread

I was wrong about all of them

I honestly started to think they were all a bunch of has-beens and nearly men. too many flaws to count. not technical enough. bad fits, tactically.

but they are all champions in waiting

Mate, that should seriously worry you.

it was about a week before hughes left

i was in meltdown, and for a minute, it rang true. hughes' coaching couldn't be THAT bad, could it? ergo, the players must be shite.

I never could understand why people didn't want Bellamy here. I think most posters had not really watched him play and had just heard the bad stuff written about him (plus the worry that he has a poor injury record). However he's surpassed even what I expected of him and is in, as I think is widely accepted, the form of his life.

I wanted him to come as well. I knew he was quick, clever and dangerous.

But he has surpassed my expectations.

I got into so many arguments at the time with people who didn't want him. Who wouldn't want him? He's been a success at all his clubs (possibly bar Liverpool but he still scored in the CL) and has a quality attitude in terms of his will to win and professionalism.

However, there's no way I expcted him to be THIS good.
