The idiocy (and selfishness) of panic buying

Couldn't get onto Broadway from the M60 slip road at lunchtime....people sat in cars waiting to sit in queues in cars in Costco car park to wait for spaces.

It was given out on the local traffic news as happeningz on several roads near supermarkets and l wondered where so many people had come from during working hours.

It struck me that a large number of these selfish bastards would be off work claiming to be 'self isolating' (in a packed store !) and that most would be in jobs with generous paid sick arrangements.

As someone at risk I cannot risk the supermarket other than when its quiet. Once again went out last night....nothing.

May I just say that any single person who has done this are at the same level of humanity as Isis and kiddy fiddlers...you are utter scum.

Shame on you.

If there is anybody on here who is really struggling to get essentials and nobody to help out, it may be worth putting location to see if any bluemooners are local and can help out in some way.
I’m rough as fuck at the minute in East Mcr, but when I’m well enough , I’d gladly go and pick up a few essentials and leave at door of the person struggling, as would plenty more on here if able.

My mate works in distribution and months ago he told me that warehouse after warehouse was being filled with imported food, such as tinned tomatoes and coffee
This was being done because of the uncertainty over Brexit, so there plenty of food about

surely has to be a limit.

people are filling there trollies each morning for something to do.

Sorry to hear that mate.
for the last two months I’ve been going to our supermarket between 7-8am and there’s usually a couple of shoppers and stackers. I go that early to avoid the crowds.
Went yesterday, earlier at 6am, and there must have been thirty or so queuing up to go in. It will be may last visit.

We are ok for another couple of days, fortunately should we really start to run out I can get either of my lads on the job.

There are many who cannot call on some one though and they are struggling. It is a disgrace what has been going on. Any remaining love I had for the people in this country has now gone. Yes I know there are a lot of good ones still a lot of very very decent people of all clours religions ages etc but there is no question it is a minority now gradually being drowned in a sea of scum and underclass, and when I say underclass I dont mean dropouts and benefit cheats I mean middle class wrongly deemed respectable hard working pillars of society.

I watched that nurse on the TV this morning bawling her eyes out when she was sat in the car after trying to buy goods from the supermarket and it hit home what a bunch of selfish twats we are . It wouldn’t cross my mind to do this .
I’ll call out these goons if I see them doing it . They’re a disgrace .

Very good shout I would urge anyone in a fit state to help out if you can. Due to the selfishness rampant out there many who should not be are approaching being in trouble or faced with having to go against advice and risk infection simply to eat.

I agree with your sentiments but i don’t see how you can justify your last sentence.
If i had a look around the people in the supermarket yesterday i would say that they came from all walks of life. But who can say, i was in my trackies and a hoodie looking for all world an old drop out, but I’m not. There was a white haired old dear walk past me with 48 toilet rolls in her trolley!!!
My daughter is a senior leader in a school, a pillar of community (!) who was getting her three year old ready for the minder and then for her to do another ten hour day in school, had no time to go shopping so I picked up packet of toilet rolls and some chicken for her.

As I say mate good and bad in all, perhaps a valuable lesson for all is not to judge a book by its cover, whether you wear trackies or a snappy suit makes not the slightest difference, but I maintain that the good uns are now a minority. Nor does age have much to do with it there are some evil old cunts about of the place. As it goes there are a good lot of very decent youngsters about which gives some hope, but by christ they have a job on their hands because the majority have turned the place into a cesspit of greed selfishness and self entitlement.

Now I agree with that paragraph.
We had a note pushed through our door last night for someone asking us if we needed any help with shopping or if we were self isolating. They clearly don’t know us but we live in a bungalow and our neighbours all around are retired, one in her 80s. It brought a tear to my eye, and that is unusual.

Up the road from us a young lad sells his eggs from an honesty box. A young woman pushing a pram quickly passed me and the Mrs coming back from our walk. The woman went to the eggs and there were none there. She looked distraught. I ran after her to say we had some eggs left and would get a delivery next week so she could have them if she wanted. She thanked us so much but said there was no need, she was fine. I’d have happily let her have them, she and her child are the future, we’re not.

At the end of the day there are many millions of fantastic people still, all colours all religions genders even political persuasion and leave and remain!

There will not much good come of this virus, but if it made the penny drop that the real problems in this country are nowt to do with race/religion its a lack of humanity spreading across the lot.

Bingo and not just here, unfortunately.

I’ve just got in from my local co-op corner shop. It was pretty well stocked. There was a lady on a mobility scooter with the worst dry hacking cough I’ve ever heard. I don’t like to judge too harshly because I don’t know the circumstances, but it does seem irresponsible at best.

At home with virus. Running low on food now but the problem is friends can’t even get stuff we need!

Tescos, Handforth Dean, rammed, 20 deep at the tills.
Marks and Spencer next door, easy street, loads of food, no queues and sensible shopping IF you can afford it.
(no bog roll though)
