The idiocy (and selfishness) of panic buying

Corbyn was as Brexit as they come, and the clown is as culpable as Farage, Johnson, Gove and Cameron for the mess that has ensued.

I thought Brexit was a terrible idea. I still do. But there's no point in arguing about it now. It's done and we need to make the best of a bad situation. Hurling around stupid insults like 'remoaner' and 'gammon' helps nobody.
It is far from done. And I don't think we have paid the bill yet have we? Something to look forward to. No pay rises to help with the spiralling energy bills for me to help cover the needless vanity project of politicians

I don't remember anyone ever promising endless Sunshine, and Milk and Honey.

I do remember talk of things getting worse before they eventually get better.

Brexit is being resisted and undermined every step of the way by people who can not handle the result of a democratic process. MSM are anything but free and independent. Deliberately trying to fuck the Country up. Just so they can say we were wrong on Brexit. So transparent.

I proudly voted for Brexit.

Eventually we will become more self sufficient. And start manufacturing stuff again. Give Kids a future.

Well said.

Well there's not much we can do about it, apart from try and vote out these muppets at the earliest opportunity.

As a ‘Pro-EU tard’, I don’t disagree :)

The one problem I foresee is that Brexit isn’t done. It’s only half done. The UK has yet to implement border and custom controls on EU produce and products coming into the UK.

We have delayed these twice now, which is not sustainable.

Going back to the panic buying, I drove past a couple of petrol stations on my way into work this morning, both had had big queues of cars outside them on Monday and Tuesday but both seemed normal today with all pumps operating and only a few cars in there. Admittedly a miniscule sample size but are we past the worst of this now?

People are so easily influenced by MSM.

It is actually quite disturbing.

They believe everything the are told. Never ,ever, questioning the narrative, the hidden agenda behind the story.

MSM say there is a toilet roll shortage. People fill their trollies with 5 year supply of Toilet rolls.

Daily Fail runs with the HGV driver shortage story. Tells all its readers it will impact fuel deliveries.

The Sheep hit the Petrol Stations in their tens of thousands filing every container they can get their Hands on.

No one questions the ulterior motives behind all the MSM scare mongering. It was a deliberately orchestrated act

Everyone now blames Brexit.

The owners of all these Rag Newspapers coincidentally are all Pro-EU.

The government needs to clamp down on this. It is irresponsible and could lead to civil unrest.

Even if it is true, the dailies should not be making the situation worse deliberately causing panic buying and sensationalizing.
So you want a media that does not report the truth because it might upset some people who fail to get say bog roll?

What you want is a big bucket filled with sand, go and sit in a corner and put your head in it, may as well

I didnt bother reading all of your post. I got to the Brexit blame bit and sacked it. You clearly want to blame Brexit for everything so I will let you carry on in that belief as nothing will change your mind. Not even facts
Changing his mind is as likely as changing yours. Pot, kettle and all that.

irs good to see you still fighting the war Bob but I think there has been a pretty major global distraction which is probably impacting on our freedoms and lives a bit more than brexit has or will. I hope you have been double jabbed btw.

those eu truck drivers who never decided to stay went some time ago.

three weeks ago in the uk we had the same number (give or take illnesses or holidays) of petrol delivery drivers as we have now.

three weeks ago everything was fine fill your car up no problems , supplies were fine.

3 weeks on no petrol whIch is weird as we have the petrol supply and the same number of drivers so why.

because someone shouted there MAY be a shortage of petrol delivery drivers and so people have started to panic buy petrol. MSM get hold it push it out there , panic everyone and it just snowballs and snowballs . People panic and demand simply exceeds supply and hey presto that’s us now.

I've been past about 5-6 different petrol stations in the last 48 hours. All had no queues and the odd couple of cars buying petrol as normal.

All the thick twats filled up over the weekend and normal functioning members of society can now crack on as usual.

I'm driving over to Leeds for a gig after work tonight and need some petrol. I am not in the slightest bit "worried".

The Daily Mail is pro-EU?

I agree with some of that but "The owners of all these Rag Newspapers coincidentally are all Pro-EU" is total nonsense.

Every paper apart from the Mirror and the Guardian are pro-Brexit, pro-Tory.

My local bp has only a couple of pumps working but the big one in town has plenty and no real q
So not Brexit then whether shapps has said it of not. We haven't suddenly found thousands of tanker drivers and the army hasn't been deployed but the muppets have full tanks so the panic is over.
My head as always is well above any sand.

Narratives, it's all about narratives, social media the press are all to blame because they have formed echo chambers where even the most off the wall ideas and opinions gain traction because they feed a narrative of a person who looks for points to support their views.

I noticed today that they are using the Americanised term of "Fact checking" in relation to Starmers speech, who's fact checking the fact checkers?

Personally, I'm very very ok with fuel shortages because the amount of idiots showing off their noisy cars has dropped by 90%, and the amount of people flooring it around town due to getting caught in the rat-race leading me to fear for my life when using busy crossings has dropped around 60%.

Still loads taking ridiculous chances with U-turns and pulling out into bus lanes.. but the scream-away-from-the-lights, floor-it-as-you-pass-the-apex-of-that-blind-corner-foot-to-the-floor-all-the-way-to-the-next-stop-junction-50-yards-later mentality has eased off a bit.
