We need a party of all the talents: ReesMogg, Grayling, Abbot, Farage.........

The only things these 7 people will achieve is the strengthening of Momentum's grip on the Labour Party and the strengthening of the Conservative's grip on the country. They should have been fighting within the party, like Lucy Powell, like Lisa Nandy and others, to moderate the party from the extremists whose views on foreign policy and immigration (and a few other big issues) is so far removed from the views of the average voter that Labour will never be a party of government again.

The rest of this week will be filled with them complaining about the treatment they have received from the rank and file Labour members in their constituency and how unfair that is. That would be the rank and file activists who go out week after week leafleting and doorstepping their constituents for their LABOUR MP and now find they don't have one. I wonder how much consultation between the constituents, their CLP and the 7 took place before they acted this morning? I think they are very brave to resign but refuse to call a by election........................you'd think they are worried they lack support or something.

Mate you need to think before your post given one of your own MPs is in prison but won’t resign the party or call a by election, it’s a bit rich.

Dead cat bounce, not so much a split as a splinter.

That’s not the way I’ve seen it.

There’s been hundreds of complaints and only about a dozen actually had something done about them.

His refusal at first, to take the IHRA definition, the apathy to clamping down on this, his initial refusal to say it was specifically a Labour problem and his nonexistent message to his followers (if people were making racist slurs in my name I’d be horrified and would bloody well tell them to shut up).

well you don't see it clearly enough OR choose not to

Only last week Labour reported there were 673 reports of anti-semitism resulting in 307 investigations and suspensions suggesting that in that 673 total there could be more than one complaint about a single act. The result of the investigation process has seen a further 12 members ejected from the party.

As has been said the Cons still haven't adopted the IHRA definition and as yet Baroness Warsi's complaints of Islamophobia have not resulted in any Conservative Party investigation.

It's a pretty strong grip anyway. At some point they were going to be deselected in favour of Momentum approved candidates.

These MP's have left the party precisely because of the views of those people they might be trying to moderate. We know about the anti-semitism problem which I do think is overstated but the intimidation, bullying and bigotry mentioned by Berger is pretty damning yet depressingly unsurprising.

You will see it on here where hard working MP's who have worked hard for Labour are being cast aside as 'Blairites' when there is nothing wrong with being a Blairite. There is nothing wrong with having a party that contains people with different views but clearly in Labour there is.

Apparently there is a problem with being a Blairite in a 'Corbynite' party which is why these MP's don't feel at home and in the case of Berger, don't even feel safe.
