The country voted to leave and your MP was voted in on a Labour ticket, you've no data to assume the ward supports her at all, in fact many of the Labour voters might feel betrayed by her.
Good but empty comment ... At least I’ve spoken to people rather the repeat the party line.... go get your own facts and do a poll of what people in Stockport think about Ann. I did, it’s not hard to do. Anecdotal or not,

Ann has 20 years experience as their mp and does a great deal in the community for the community. This is much more valued than a party political allegiance.

When Anna Soubry got elected more people voted against her than voted for her. Who exactly is she supposed to represent if not everyone in her constituency?

Soubry is an MP of a leave constituency and she was voted in on a Tory ticket, it's almost as if she's being paid by someone else.

Can't disagree with any of that even if I don't agree with it, I want it firmed up and changed so that changing your rosette mid term means by election.
Why change rules now there has been no need in the past. This isn't a new thing. It's the electorate that need to learn to vote for a candidate not a rosette.

Personally I'd say the majority of people (70%-80%) vote for parties. That's not how it stands legally though and there's no way to definitively say that it's the case in their constituencies, especially given the level of disaffection with both main parties. I'd quite happily bet on Coffey retaining her seat as an independent in a by election for starters.

I'd agree - you ask most people they will say I voted Corbyn / May / Cameron and so on when clearly that in fact can only happen in each of their constituencies. I just thought Blue Hef's post summed the situation up nicely where he has a good MP but hates the party leader and it seems that - in this thread at least - who / what you vote for is somewhat fluid.

Why should I get facts when you only have anecdotal evidence? When Labour band an MP in Stockport she'll be gone.
