Funny you bring this up, I stumbled on this in the loft the other week. :)

That's the one. On the age thing I cycled to Maine Road from Cheetham Hill, I was about 7 on a Friday night with two friends of similar age. My aunt was supposed to be minding me so I took advantage as my mum & dad had gone out for the night.

Played football for the Salford branch of Junior Blues, got the ball boy the derby through it. Also got to play on the pitch before John Bonds first home game in charge against Birmingham City. Having your name in the programme as a young lad was amazing. Five a side competitions at Platt Lane, it was a great concept for kids.
