I remember them. Not sure what good they did though!Anyone remember the little scaffold podium that one or two coppers used to stand on at the very back of the kippax? I remember climbing up them and watching the games from there as a kid. Happy days.
That tune is " The dance of the cuckoos".I still, mentally, whistle the Laurel and Hardy theme tune whenever I see.the.stewards filing down the stands like we used to when the police filed round the stadium.
Forgot about that- so funny. They used to come around from the Main Stand, around the North Stand and finally to the Kippax. You could see in their faces that they were fuming ;-)I still, mentally, whistle the Laurel and Hardy theme tune whenever I see.the.stewards filing down the stands like we used to when the police filed round the stadium.
Did a search to see if any pictures of the coopers in kipper turned up, unfortunately no. However, and I hate link to the MUEN but, some great pictures of the Maine Road crowd here. Anyone spots themselves?

Derby day pictures: How police handled Man City and Manchester United's 1981 clash at Maine Road
On the eve of another Manchester derby, we look back at some evocative scenes from City and United's clash in 1981. Both derbies that year took place at Maine Road and a photographer for Greater Manchester Police went along for the February 21 fixture - which City won 1-0 - to record the event...www.manchestereveningnews.co.uk
I've often wondered the same thing, particularly as all the City pitch invasions and crowds shots on YouTube seem to be from supporters who were my age at the timeIt always fascinates me how young we all were and I wonder what the clubs' continuity plans are for when those of us now in our 60s die off.

I dont see continuity. I might be naive about it but it very much seems to me that they want to ditch the idea of lifetime supporters for something a bit more retail or commercial fans.It always fascinates me how young we all were and I wonder what the clubs' continuity plans are for when those of us now in our 60s die off.
I’m on photo 7 … fairly sure Mikey Williams tooDid a search to see if any pictures of the coopers in kipper turned up, unfortunately no. However, and I hate link to the MUEN but, some great pictures of the Maine Road crowd here. Anyone spots themselves?
