The Kippax coppers

Anyone remember the little scaffold podium that one or two coppers used to stand on at the very back of the kippax? I remember climbing up them and watching the games from there as a kid. Happy days.
I remember them. Not sure what good they did though!

Don’t remember them but I do remember the ones at the front of the Kippax. My first few games my Dad sent me down to the front whilst he had a beer and a fag with his mates and the cops picked me up and sat me on the little white wall.
Great memories of a long lost time.

I still, mentally, whistle the Laurel and Hardy theme tune whenever I see.the.stewards filing down the stands like we used to when the police filed round the stadium.
Forgot about that- so funny. They used to come around from the Main Stand, around the North Stand and finally to the Kippax. You could see in their faces that they were fuming ;-)

Did a search to see if any pictures of the coopers in kipper turned up, unfortunately no. However, and I hate link to the MUEN but, some great pictures of the Maine Road crowd here. Anyone spots themselves?

It always fascinates me how young we all were and I wonder what the clubs' continuity plans are for when those of us now in our 60s die off.

I've often wondered the same thing, particularly as all the City pitch invasions and crowds shots on YouTube seem to be from supporters who were my age at the time

1978 Young Kids at Elland Road
1979 Young Kids at Maine Road celebrating Michael Robinson's goal v United
1984 late teens/early 20s at Swansea
1985 pissed up "lads" v Charlton
1989 Morrissey lookalike in the North Stand celebrating the 5th
2000 Blokes in their mid 30s at Ewood Park

Now I'm 61 in Block 119 and everyone around me seems to be 61

I dont see continuity. I might be naive about it but it very much seems to me that they want to ditch the idea of lifetime supporters for something a bit more retail or commercial fans.

I think they forget that bad times will happen and they'll need those lifetime fans to carry them through that.
