'THE KIPPAX' - Why are no Etihad stands called this?

Can never understand why they've never named one of the stands at the etihad - 'The Kippax' . It was one of the most famous stands in the country. Struck fear into away fans and made home fans proud. Has it ever been discussed? Would make a brilliant story.
Why would we? No one is considering naming one of the stands "The Hyde Road Stand". Silly suggestion.

I once imagined what all four stands of our stadium would be called if we'd always been based at the Eastlands site instead of Hyde Road/Maine Road.

I'm sure it was originally known as "The Popular Side" when it first opened in 1923, but was re-named in the 1950s when a roof was added to one of the largest terraces in the country.

What is the meaning of the forge?

Non of the new stands quite as 'massive'......

The roof gave it more of an identity and the name given was a powerful one that's for sure.

Its too late to start renaming stands based on the Maine Road days.
The younger crowd going to matches probably don't even know the difference between a kipper and the kippax.

Never too late. Stories can continue throughout a clubs history. The club just needs to do a campaign around jt. The rags are talking having a stretford end at their new stadium. Why wouldn't we?

I think we have more important matters than organising a campaign to get a stand based "The Kippax"
