'THE KIPPAX' - Why are no Etihad stands called this?

There are hundreds of blues that still call it The Kippax and /or Kippax corner. We even still chant it on occasion.

I knew you guys did that and fair play to you. Im all for carrying on the stories of the past without living in the past. What do you think of the idea of the whole East Stand being renamed 'The Kippax'? and the whole lower tier becoming safe standing with a view to the upper tier being safe standing at some point? The East stand is even located on 'Kippax Cresent" . With the club clearly looking for more tourists I think it would be great to allocate a whole side of the ground (like the kippax) to our hard-core/ legacy fans. No tourists allowed. Would look great on TV too.

It’s a fine line between remembering, marking and respecting your club’s past and living in it.

Calling any of the stands at the Etihad ‘the Kippax’ would be doing the latter.

And which Kippax would we be naming it after?
Who made you the arbiter of this?

How do you define it? What are the parameters?

I think it could, and things like it could happen if the fans with vision met the club people with vision and had a creative discussion. There currently seems to be a huge disconnect in that regard.

I watch City yeah.

Probably because we don't want connecting with Leeds and West Yorkshire.

Here's a gem from Google.

  • The Kippax (Football):
The Kippax is also the name of a stand at Manchester United's Old Trafford stadium, named after Kippax Street, which in turn was named after the town of Kippax, West Yorkshire.

Wiki can be edited by anyone iirc…rags having a giraffe

I once imagined what all four stands of our stadium would be called if we'd always been based at the Eastlands site instead of Hyde Road/Maine Road.

The early leavers stand
The very early leavers stand
The half and half stand
The viagogo stand

Why was the Platt Lane stand named as such when it was nowhere near Platt Lane?
Why was the Kippax Stand named after a village in the Leeds area?

It was always the popular side when I started to go to Maine Road.

You can call it whatever you like but it would never be The Kippax, not really. For me it stopped being The Kippax when the terrace was replaced by the seated stand.

The Etihad has been there long enough to generate its own memories, how about the Agueroooo! stand?
