The Labour Government

Did she suggest that the IFS had rowed back from suggesting that Labour knew about the black hole? Paul Johnson certainly sounds more sympathetic today.

Paul Johnson, director of the Institute for Fiscal Studies, said on Monday that it was “striking” that the £20 billion “black hole” is of the same scale as Hunt’s NI cuts.

Johnson told BBC Breakfast: “It is very striking that if this problem is about £20 billion big that is exactly the scale of the National Insurance cuts implemented by Jeremy Hunt just before the election.

“Now, if those cuts were implemented in the knowledge that there was this kind of hole that is not good policy to put it mildly.”

I think they'd already softened before today, but these are two tweets from during the speech, from Paul Johnson and Ban Zaranko, also of the IFS.

In 24 weeks she spent 24 billion pounds settling pay disputes, I think
the tories were going to break the NHS by not paying the doctors. We’ve only got a part time doctor now they’ve all moved into private health care
Everyone using Non Dom tax status needs to pay up and all of you fiddling your tax and loop holes are in for a big shock as Labour are going to come after you

Agree with all this but won't the Non dons just do a Ratcliffe? And why he is only allowed in this country 90 days a year because he pays zero taxes

Labour apparently scrapping the winter fuel payment for those not receiving pension credit or other benefits.

I'm confused. So if you're not claiming pension credit you will still get the fuel payment or not?
