I really hope she can get that benefit sorted . The dwp is set up to say no , they make it hard to get benefits for a reason . It is a shitbag of a department . So if they do turn her down go straight to appeal

Now starmer is going to say they are going after sick people and investigators will have the legal right to access bank accounts , benefit fraud is 0.7% including mistakes made by the dwp

I suspect they will only be looking at the bank accounts of those suspected of working as well as claiming benefits.

Unusually, I agree with you entirely. What they have done to WFA is diabolical IMO, for all the reasons you list.

The really annoying thing is, the more I find out, it was entirely unnecessary as well, so I really do question what on earth their motivations were.

Apparently the government's projected spend this year is around £1,226 billion, which is forecast to be around £22bn over budget. Putting aside the fact that £1.3bn WFA saving is like 0.1% of our spending, I had not realised there were key words like "projected" and "forecast".

These are estimates. The actual numbers may come in better or worse, depending on growth rates, what happens to inflation and interest rates etc.

So in fact there was no need to do anything at all with WFA. Indeed you could strongly argue there was no need to do anything about the £22bn "gap", which is itself a forecast and anyway in large part due to £9bn of pay awards and £11bn of Ed Silliband nonsense. If hell bent on saving £1.3bn would it not have been better to tell Silliband he's not getting all his money because we cannot afford it, rather than killing pensioners?

Once in law they can go after whoever they want , it should not even be a blanket option, they should be able to apply to the courts in individual circumstances , that is it

As with the taxman , those with a penny over in megre savings will be looked in to the most

Unlikely she will complete it refused to do it for my Dad when he was terminal with an automatic qualification.

The system puts you off applying and it takes a hell of a lot to put your pride aside, i suspect a lot of older people just cant do it . This makes this plan so unfair , going after poor people and sick people is a cunts trick

It is right rich pensioners dont get wfa but the cut off needs to be looked at first , to do it this winter makes me hate the fucking sight of labour , they do not know or are ignoring the points i have made and just gone there it is easy pickings
