The Labour Government

WOW! Bloody amazing! Smashing the gangs ( well actually one who was a major player) the figures will come down just now ( as long as the weather is bad as well) well done Prime Minister you are amazing!! And you are buying your own suits now!!
He has made more progress in a few months than the tories did in 14 years , getting people processed and getting the whole system working is key. Another trafficer got 17 yrs in prison here just the other week, it is progress

Pedantic perhaps but you do realise the trafficker wasn’t arrested under Starmers short PM’ship yes?

He was arrested in May.

The NCA is currently investigating over 70 cases, many of which will have been ongoing for a long time I suspect.

Well there are 26% which are considering very drastic action. That doesn't mean that others are still not going to be detrimentally affected such as the 42% that are thinking of stopping recuritment.

Using our small business as an example, luckily I don't see us laying off staff. For us the tax rises will probably result in a mixture of inflationary increases passed to our clients and us absorbing some costs where we can with us having to cut back on our investment and growth plans. But we will have to see how the general market in our sector deals with it as our industry is affected heavily by interest rates.
The worry is that SMEs employ around 60% of all people who work in the private sector or around 16.7m people. Obviously we don’t know what percentage cuts those who have said to be taking drastic action are planning, but even if it’s only 10% that’s more than 400k added to the jobless figures and a decreased income tax take, plus potentially more benefits payments.

Undoubtedly some of those people will find other employment, but it’s a big gamble and one that will impact lots of families up and down the country.

Larger multinationals are already scaling back recruitment, offshoring more work to cheaper economies and generally reducing their workforce by a combination of natural wastage and job cuts. These will start to work their way into the governments figures from early next year as recruitment for more junior roles tends to be done on a yearly cycle to coincide with graduates/school leavers completing their studies.
