The Labour Government

Not sure there is much point killing them if you become them.
No chance they'll become them but what I would say is that some of the rhetoric we're hearing this morning is straight out of the Reform playbook and I for one am not comfortable with that.

Anyway, I'm sure Farage will pipe up shortly and say he fully supports Starmer on this.....or maybe not!

Appeasing a gobby, racist minority over the people that elected them.

Didn't Biden do the same with regards to migration and how did that turn out?

The issue they’ve got is a fair chunk of the people that elected them voted for Reform in the locals.

This might not be a popular opinion on here!
Thatcher was hated, absolutely hated by working class communities because she destroyed many of them on the altar of the 'market' (neoliberalism, I think it's called). The truth is that Freedom of movement and immigration has also destroyed many, mostly working class communities. You simply cannot square supporting immigration on the scales we currently have with support for the working class (which is supposed to be what the Labour Party is about). Cheap labour might be great for growth and the middle classes but it is utterly delusional and probably blatant lying to claim it has any benefits for the working class and poorest of this country.

Does it need a new centre left party? I’d argue that’s what the Lib Dem’s are, particularly on immigration policy.

Given they also had bringing in PR in their manifesto too, they feel like the right temporary home for a few people at least.
No the Lib Dem’s are centrists. There maybe some crossover with the right wing of the Labour Party but that’s it

Isn't their policy an open door?

Aren't they trying to do that already? I say trying because I don't think it's been too successful so far
I think most people welcome those that come here legally, particularly to work.
The focus should be on those where we don't know their true identity and history. Whilst I understand there are some genuine people that come from absolute war torn shit holes and "packing your passport" isn't exactly feasible, there are also loads of risks associated with letting anyone in based on a story that can't be verified.

I know that Labour focused on this group at the beginning but in now changing the narrative it makes me feel like they are admitting defeat with that. Which is understandable because it's much easier to control legal migration.

If only there was a massive bit of land full of countries where young British working class kids could go and work for more than 90 days....
