The Labour Government

Resident doctor on TV just now, "Everyone feels that their pay has been reduced over the last few years".

Nice try. It hasn't been.

Surely they knew the pay bands before embarking on their medical journey. As you posted yesterday, their pay hasn’t suffered over a dozen years.

I supported their claim last year, but now they are simply trying to blackmail the Country and can get to fuck.

I tend to agree with this, doesn't seem right to strike for pay rises you didn't get before you decided to become a doctor??

... is the Correct Answer.

annual validation for a start - which will be required of the posters daughter ( something not yet required of the better paid PA's) and Resident Doctors have to review and sign off the work of a PA. Something that would be an anathema for a qualified consultant as there were no PA's when they were a Junior Doctor

Its nothing special. No different to being chartered by any other professional body looking at the requirements and holding a competency to undertake safety critical work. Just part of life if you are a highly skilled individual doing work which could result in deaths through negligence. The continual training and learning for which, is all expected to be done on your own time so you keep your job. Thats why you get paid more than the average person.

Yup nurses have to revalidate every 3 years to keep their pin. It takes little time so long as you’ve done enough CPD hours, which isn’t a huge burden you have to do a few reflections as well. Mrs MB and I went to watch one of them “autopsy lives” and that counted towards her CPD hours plus I now know how to murder someone and improve my chances of getting away with it!! Win win.

Yeah, well, that's for the year ending March which included the dog days of the Tories. "Accredited Official Statistics cover March and September snapshots only, on both an FTE and a headcount basis; however, based on management information collected by the National Police Chief’s Council, which is available on a headcount basis only, there has been a small decrease of 84 officers (or 0.1%) compared to June 2024, when the new Government took office".

And there were 17,175 FTE police officers and PCSOs in neighbourhood policing roles as at 31 March 2025, a 1.3% increase (214 FTE) from 31 March 2024 when there were 16,961 officers and PCSOs in neighbourhood policing roles.

And funding for the National Policing Guarantee only started in April.

It really is pathetic.
Watching him trying to explain his approach to resolving this in front of Trump today was embarrassing .
