So we can quite easily accept a EU national an African or an Asian immigrant based on the rules set out by the govt. Thank you for confirming you were wrong and we haven't chosen to not accept European immigrants.
Shame it took so much desperate waffling by yourself
The country voted to change the legal basis upon which Europeans could live and work in the UK and make it harder. Europeans voted with their feet and the numbers declined. Cause and effect. By itself the Govt would not have made it harder. The public voted to do so and the Govt respected that vote.
The public vote meant the current scheme for non-EU migration was adjusted to compensate for the loss of European migration. Respecting the public vote was a necessity imposed upon the Govt, and the details of the new immigration system was laid out in the Tory 2019 manifesto which the public backed in the subsequent election.
At no point is the Govt acting as if was the sole determiner of all that has transpired in the last decade. I do not think this is a difficult concept to grasp.
