Plenty of people suffer terribly at the hands of politicians decisions and unlike them she won't go without. Totally self inflicted.

More likely that she is a politician and we want politicians to act with integrity.

I dont think it helps anyone to misrepresent why people are happy that a politician has been held accountable.

And for her, it's the best thing for her to do if she wants a political future. If she just ignored it and tried to hang on to power she would never be trusted again.

That wasn’t the law firm, that was the conveyancing firm.

She got two pieces of advice saying that it should be the lower stamp duty but both caveated it saying it didn’t constitute expert tax advice and one specifically recommended that specific advice should be obtained.

As a Labour voter, her position is clearly untenable. She should have resigned immediately — clinging on is pointless when we all know she’ll be gone by the end of September.

If there was any “silver bullet” (proof this was simply misguided but professional advice), it would already be out in the open.

Frustrating, really — she felt closer to a traditional Labour politician than Starmer’s centrism.

I posted this on Wednesday.

It was so clear that her position was untenable as soon as the information surfaced. She's damaged the parties image and put Starmer in an awkward position (after he publicly backed her earlier in the week).

Self-serving and deluded to attempt to cling on. She should have resigned immediately for the good of the party.

Big fuck up from Rayner here, it's right she's resigned and a bit sad as I thought in a world of Yvette Coopers & Rachel Reeves she was a bit more principled and not just diet Tory, and obviously from nearby, nice to hear someone who sounds like you in Parliament.

Still, I look forward to the spotless, non-self serving patriots of Reform to take charge.
