The Labour Government

Boats plus all the rest ,ie thousands of useless people like Turkish barbers of Indian/Pakistani cooks etc etc. See the numbers they are ridiculous Small shops being given all sorts of visas for shops that have 2 barbers seats or restaurants visas for a hundred visas for cooks a year. The numbers are crazy Add all the figures up and they are close to a million a year . It's unsustainable and these people disappear into the black economy . The whole thing needs dismantling and starting again from the ground up. If not be prepared for more tax and the pound in serious trouble in the not to distant future
Useless people like Turkish barbers? I.e, people providing a service? I go to a Turkish barber and he does a good job for a pretty fair price.

What a load of ignorant shite this post is.

a long haired hippy who only eats beans on toast - don't engage with it mate

Maybe it should and we should make law that states anyone entering illegally will be charged and prosecuted and let’s say given 5 years they will serve before being deported.

A majority have had enough.

Even the Lib Dems have finally woke up and realised.
This is a general comment - not aimed at you - just replying to your post because you mentioned the Lib Dems

Am I right to think that the main thrust of their recently announced policy was simply to speed up asylum processing.

Given that a lot of UK citizens, including me, are of the view that a lot of the arrivals are 'coached' on how to make their asylum claim be successful (not necessarily truthful) - even more so if they initially fail and go to appeal - then all this means is that the policy will just lead to a flood of even more arrivals (research this morning suggests that only about 5% get deported).

To the average citizen I am sure that there would be (valid) concerns that a large number of those granted leave to stay are not valid asylum seekers

So the backlog is reduced by simply opening the doors.

Like others my starting point would be to find a way to state clearly that anyone arriving illegally in the UK will not be allowed to apply for Asylum and will be returned.

I would suggest that this this just needs the 'government will' to introduce primary legislation to limit or modify certain aspects of the ECHR regulations without formally withdrawing from the convention itself

classic insecurity - "the numbers don't fit my perception or belief therefore they must be wrong". As long as that attitude persists any Govt of any colour will never succeed in your eyes.

Proof ? Doesn’t make sense given vacancy’s I.e new actual job roles and increased NHS spending

First hand. Team Mrs MB used to work in (discharge) is in process of being let go. Trusts have been told to balance the books by £7bn of overspend. To do this the government have told them to reduce corporate functions- however a hospital can’t function without a HR function for example so they’ll amalgamate these across trusts - that takes time and they need to balance books this FY. You can run a hospital without a specific discharge team - sure you’ll end up with less efficiency but it’s all a sunk cost anyway. Nurses being made redundant can’t then reapply to NHS posts for 12 months - they could perhaps go on via private agencies of course.

That is one example. @Blackley_Blue is having same at their trust they work at if you need more film telling you the same thing is happening all over.
