Move on dummy. I'm sure there is a tax rate to complain about somewhere. We are all on the edge of our seats wondering what it is.Sure, I'm super depressed and have a horrible life... or maybe not.

Bang on the money. He's lowering himself to Farage's pitiful standard.As a Labour voter, my concern with Keir Starmer is that he’s letting the ultra right wing control the political narrative.
He needs to stop fixating on illegal immigration. It’s a losing position for anyone in power. We will never stop it.
He needs to concentrate on more of the issues that are exacerbated by the overpopulation of Great Britain. Invest in our public sector and get it back on track after more than a decade of austerity. People won’t care (as much) about refugees or economic migrants coming here if they feel safe and their taxes are visibly working for them.
People are mad right now because the public sector services we rely on are shite - and unfortunately Uncle Nige has convinced the Gammon amongst us that it’s brown people who are to blame.
Government, of any colour, need to be honest with the public.Bang on the money. He's lowering himself to Farage's pitiful standard.
And if we want our public sector recieving the investment it needs, taxes will have to rise commensurately. Too many are blind to this, or just don't give a fuck.

I learned quiet a bit from their art films as a teenager.Can we not learn something from the Scandinavians?
They should bite the bullet and whack 5% on income tax across the board and restore the previous NI threshold.
We all know we need to pay more to sort this shit out. The longer we leave it the worse it's going to get.
They should be straight about it. It needs to be done. Manifesto pledges or not .
They won’t be sticking 5p on. Tuppence is feasible. Trouble is it’s only to plug the £30bn hole that’s appeared this past year - so that extra 2p in the pound isn’t going to improve services or owt like that, it’s going on just keeping the lights on.
So they’ll stick income tax up, break an election pledge for no political gain. Starmer will be gone this time next year if they don’t pull a rabbit out of the hat.
They do, agreed. But they also need to be honest with themselves. Not much good in office if they can't stick to their principles. Starmer has yo-yoed from one disaster to another because he's abandoned the traditions of the party he leads; instead, he's appeasing a social media crowd whipped into a frenzy by a professional grifter.Government, of any colour, need to be honest with the public.
Unfortunately we seem to have, in recent years, politicians who say what the public want to hear whilst not rocking any boats lest it puts them "out of favour"
With almost £5Bn contingency according to the above is it any surprise. Jesus if I had a QS in my team who said a project was £7Bn but you needed a 46% contingency then they would be out of a job. My rough estimate was to tunnel under parts of manchester then approach Man Picc at surface level. Whilst underground stations are expensive its still no where near the quoted figure based upon what I know Crossrail's underground stations cost plus inflation and some of those were hellishly complicated due to interfaces with the existing LU infrastructure.Others beg to differ.

Report: HS2 gives reasons for Manchester station stance - Place North West
An underground station at Manchester Piccadilly would take up to 13 years longer to build and cost around £12bn, compared to £7bn for the existing above-ground proposal, according to a report.www.placenorthwest.co.uk
Crossrail had to go underground. NPR doesn't. True, having a through station makes sense if there's going to be a line to Leeds, but where's the money for that? It was an unfunded Tory promise when they pulled HS2 phase 2.With almost £5Bn contingency according to the above is it any surprise. Like all things its easy to make things seem unaffordable if you don't want to do them.
The skilled workers from the EU have stopped coming here.That’s entirely on the British government and the immigration policy they’ve chosen. Those same unskilled migrants are also going to most European countries in huge numbers.
We had some unskilled EU workers. If they haven't gone home, half of those who remained are now skilled and/or in management positionsThe skilled workers from the EU have stopped coming here.
That’s not how the tax system works though Vic, as you well know.So a couple working twice the hours of a single person should not be better rewarded by the tax system?
Why? People use public services and receive benefits not 1 Acacia avenue.That’s not how the tax system works though Vic, as you well know.
If a household is bringing in £x then surely the tax bill should be the same, regardless of how it’s made up?
Staggering figures. Ridiculous to be honest. The infrastructure in this country is not for this many people. Probably around 60 million, not 70+ million. And the negative knock-on effects of an increasing population far outweighs any positives.UK population increased by more than 750,000 in 12 months - mostly due to migration
We've just had some data from the Office for National Statistics on the UK's population growth.
This covers the period from June 2023 to June 2024.
The key points are:
This is the second largest numerical jump in population since at least 1949, when comparable data began.
- Population increased by 755,254, from 68.5 million to 69.3 million;
- Of this, an estimated 738,718 were people immigrating - equivalent to 98% of the increase;
- In total, 1,235,254 people are estimated to have come to UK - while 496,536 left;
- Births added only 16,239 to the UK - with 662,148 people being born in the 12 month period, and 645,909 dying.
It is only beaten by the 890,049 increase that took place in the 12 months prior from mid-2022 to mid-2023.
You should go to counselling. You need help. Perhaps you can get it on the NHS and some other poor sod can pay for it for you.You weren't penalised you got paid, thats why you are a daft twat. Be thankful there was another daft twat willing to pay you even though you were and are a twat and daft. Daft twat:-)
And if there's the same number of people in 2 households with the same income?Why? People use public services and receive benefits not 1 Acacia avenue.
