Hate crime of all types have been on the rise due to the febrile atmosphere created by certain sectors of the political spectrum and should be a focus of any government but this is not a simple case of anti-Semitism it's a complex public order issue around which legitimate concerns exist. At most the government should have been using back channels to raise questions and express concern rather than what he's done.

You're right, but at the same time as the profits and margins are rising, don't moan about some increased costs to the business.

£2.74 Billion profit last year.

That says to me they could have absorbed some of those increased costs with a lower profit margin.

Something Labour should be doing is taxing huge profits as that shows how much companies like Tesco are taking the piss out of us.

You're right. I do have a bit of sympathy for them that their profit margins are actually quite low as businesses go. But to actually increase those margins whilst at the same time moaning about the affordability of the NI and minimum national wage increases comes across as a bit hypocritical.

Given that the Home Office knew about this a week ago, the government have had ample opportunity to address the situation, if they had wished to do so.

As it is, Starmer is simply paying lip service to the idea of tackling antisemitism and he shouldn’t be taken seriously.

It's performative bollocks and not just him but Badenoch and Davey at it too. You could argue they were in a less informed position but no excuse for any of them exacerbating what was already a difficult situation with crass announcements.

I would say Starmer views antisemitism as the same way Thatcher viewed the unions, a huge risk to position and power. He was in the Shadow cabinet of Corbyn and got a front row seat for how that issue caused huge damage for the party.

I suspect you're right there. I don't know why I keep expecting some form of nuanced moral leadership over political expediency; it's hardly like the environment is conducive to it.
