The Labour Party

When i see the likes of clare short and dianne abbot, I'd say thank fuck for that.
Although I think Mo Mowlem would have made a good leader/pm.

Why have they never had a female leader?

Or a non white one. Or a gay one. Or a wheelchair user. Besides, the Tories have only had one.
To be fair, women make up over half of the population, unlike the others you mention, so law of averages would say they should have had atleast one.

But I think you knew all this and were just trying to cute. Well it didn't work.

Margaret Beckett led the Labour party after the death of John Smith.

So the answer is Yes, Labour has had a female leader.

I wouldn't be quite so sure.
There'd have to be a big upturn in the economy very soon so the effects are being felt in time for the election. We know there's a good two year drag before there's a knock-on effect from growth on employment and the like. The majority of cuts are still to come too: http://online.wsj.com/article/SB1000142 ... 21288.html At the moment the poll leads indicate a substantial Labour majority: http://ukpollingreport.co.uk/ and I think it's just as likely to get worse for the tories as better. Plans to reform Parliament seem to be dead in the water as well. This is assuming Parliament lasts five years and it could well not. If it's earlier I think the tories are sitting ducks.
