have the left lost its sense of humour and you never answered me?
Have they come out yet?

Did you ask the same of johnsons promises the last few weeks?
As he seems to think the country can afford it while giving tax breaks so I am guessing labour have weighed up the same conundrum and found a solution

Provide more scholarships. Make it 50% scholarships. And why only the really talented? Most of those who attend are bang average or have private tuition but get the benefits because their parents have the means. Give places to those that are bang average without the means. If you can afford it you pay full whack plus VAT and subsidise the rest I means it’s a charity right?
Look you can sit around and do nothing and accept the system which means there is always a 60% chance the next PM will come from one bleeding school or a 40% chance they will come from a handful of others. I mean either these schools just lucked out and got the exceptionally talented through the door or the game is rigged. Given the current shitshow I'm going for the latter. You reckon this is healthy? If you were devising a system for getting the best and brightest to lead the country would you ensure the odds were the PM came from one school?
I didn't ask it but I thought exactly the same.
Genuine question or is it just by borrowing?
The cost is irrelevant, its the law.

Fabulous speech, so much promise after years of Tory neglect.
Good delivery, set the tone well, smashed it.
The peoples flag is deepest red.
It was by more than just borrowing, investment nationally not just in London, taxation of big bisiness, closing loopholes.
Also the interesting comment in the speech
"Labour will tackle this. We will redesign the system to serve public health – not private wealth – using compulsory licensing to secure generic versions of patented medicines. We’ll tell the drugs companies that if they want public research funding then they’ll have to make their drugs affordable for all. And we will create a new publicly owned generic drugs manufacturer to supply cheaper medicines to our NHS, saving our health service money and saving lives".
Wonderful leader our Mr Corbyn will be, change is coming fuck austerity ??for the many not the few.vote labour and get rid of these twats in power once and for all.

Mate, there was some good stuff in there, but it was a terrible speech, I gave up after a while and I wanted to hear what he had to say.
He's a dreadful orator.
As a former Labour voter I will never vote for them under Corbyn. He is the worst leader they have ever had. To have a circa -70% approval rating against this government and to be bound to lose an election against this government is totally unforgivable.
He is.
By all means applaud the content and sentiment but a performer he is not and never will be unless Dianne can tell us differently...?
The cost is not irrelevant.
Kids in private school reduce the financial burden on the state of providing education.
I go past the person and look at the policy personally, if it is Jeremy putting them forward or someone else I am not fussed either way.

That is totally different to my point. The state by law has to provide education, the cost of that is irrelevant as it is the law to do so.
People who send their kids to private schools do not reduce the burden, because the provision is already there by law. whether the parents choose to take up that provision provided is up to them, but it is already in existence, by law of the land.
One of the arguments against free schools was that they would provide provision that already existed. If you have a school that provides education for a community then why would opening a second school offering similar provision help in any way as the provision was already there.
He is no Michael Foot granted, but he was good and is getting better.
