The Labour Party

Let me get this straight.
What do you think the police we do have are doing?

Dodging the question I see.

The police are doing similar things to what they used to before the cuts, we don’t see them hardly because they’ve been cut massively.

Now answer my question, you think the cuts to police have nothing to do with the fact there are hardly any police?

Wrong.
Yes, we know the numbers have been cut, it was May who did it and it was a stupid decision, but that doesn't
alter the fact that you never see coppers about.
At all.
Again, are you suggesting that there are no police available to walk the beat? That would literally mean we don't have any
at all, we do, so why are they not out in numbers? As we speak, hundreds of them are now around in London,
having to (sort of) deal with hundreds of crackpots blocking the city, they are there in force, so although diminished they're
about. If they do not engage in stop and search, vigorously, nothing will change.

I’m not sure it’s fair to call those people crackpots mate

@Ban-jani My apologies for the skip, the system temporarily disappeared.
Ok, let me explain something to you.
For around the last 30 years or so, the appearance of police on the streets has diminished to the point
that they are now virtually never seen, my dad was always saying this at the time, and things have not changed.
This was well before May was home secretary, and reduced their numbers, the police on the streets debate
has been going on much longer than you appear to realise. Do to changes in policing, the minutiae of which
I'm not au fait with, this is what has happened, a copper on here was saying about how police were not as visible
on a similar thread, so there being none on the streets is not down to numbers. If it were, the argument
would be around the issue of there not being 'As Many' on the streets.
So, in a nutshell, if police policy is not to patrol, for whatever reason, how does increasing their number,
(which I would do, but alter their approach), help in reducing knife crime? It's easy to simply ask for more,
but more sat in offices won't help.

Is it fuck.

These people are protesting for their lives.

No surprise he doesn’t care.
Different thread mate, I will defend my stance if a suitable one appears.
For what it's worth, the lives I care about are the poor ordinary workers who have lost vital income, the people
who are suffering in hospitals or falling ill at home, and the emergency services unable to get to them.
Don't preach just yet cock.

It depresses me the amount of cunts on the news complaining about their day being inconvenienced. The only reason they are there is because you don’t like being inconvienced you wanker.

You brought them up in fairness. Whether you agree or not the actual fact is their issue is at the top of any list you could muster up.

I did bring them up, to reinforce a separate point, but I'll happily be involved in any discussions about it,
on another thread.

That’s fine but if you didn’t call them crackpots it wouldn’t have been derailed. Maybe just call them climate change protesters. Not that this protest has any affect long term on police numbers and their activities. They needn’t have been mentioned at all come to think of it.

Back on topic then.

I never got the visibility argument with police it’s seems a poor approach to prevention.

Well, if we increase the numbers but retain the invisibility, I don't see how that would reduce knife crime.
I'm willing to hear how it could be achieved though.

Sorry I’m not talking about numbers, I think we need more coppers on the street and I agree the way the police work has diminished this with or without the cuts but I have never understood the need for a copper on the beat or in a vehicle advertising the fact.

A simple analogy would be use of mobile phones. You get a call on your phone, quick look around no coppers around, pick up phone. Imagine if any car or pedestrian around you could be a copper.

I remember significantly more police 10 years ago though.

They used to patrol a lot more. I’ve always lived in the suburbs of Manchester and gone into the city centre all my life.

Both in the suburbs less than 15 years ago and in the city centre I always recall patrols.

There has been a sharp decrease since the Tories came in.

Now, there may be something else that’s also causing it but sharp cuts to the police are 100% a factor.

The fuckwits have just posted a tweet wishing the Jewish community a Happy Passover (which starts tonight). One problem though. It shows a Star of David, a wine glass and a loaf of bread but the one thing Jews don’t eat during Passover is bread. They just can’t help themselves. It’s almost like they do this deliberately to troll us.

It’s a non issue if wasn’t for what’s happened to be fair.
