It's a list of some good things and some bad things IMO, so I'm not sure it's worth having a wank over. Especially as there's not a chance he could ever implement even half of the stuff that appears on it.

Free school meals? Great
But 26% corporation tax? I'm not sure what that's all about. That's hardly going to appeal to businesses when it's, what, 19% now?

I see free tuition fees is still in there. I thought he backtracked on that one during the last election campaign when it transpired how much that would cost

They’re not mutually exclusive points of view to be fair, unless he’s being inconsistent in specifically what he’s criticising them for.

He backtracked off on writing off student debts. It would be politically impossible for him backtrack on free tuition.

Good reply, the whole point of pledges such as these is to start a conversation into the why and when's etc. No manifesto appeals to everyone as no party appeals to everyone so you use your judgement as to does the good outweigh the bad and indifferent.

Overall I think you are quite positive, as I expect most people would be as its fairly radical without being extreme and its well balanced

We are in a strange position with tuition fees due to it no longer being seen as an investment in the future its now seen as a debt carried forward.

The multiplier effect of a decent education should far outweigh the investment made into it. As we desperately need a multi skilled workforce with brexit on the horizon then education is needed more than ever. It is an investment made by society in the same way as investment is made on a new airport etc.

As someone who originally opposed the student loans system, I've actually come to think the current system is probably the best method. If you get a degree and it leads to a high paid job, you end up paying for it, but if you end up in a job that doesn't pay so highly (perhaps in healthcare, one that the country needs) then you only pay a part, possibly very little. Returning to a free system means everyone pays. It's the idea of having a high loan hanging over the student's head that people have an issue with, but it's not really a loan because it isn't mandatory to repay it - it's more an advance potential tax.

Some universities have invested the extra money really well, from what I can see from the outside, would that continue if the system is changed?

Yeah, and when you look at the repayment terms they're not that restrictive and the interest rate is quite low. It's hardly Wonga levels
