About time someone said it, well done Dawn!
Very good, but until starmer starts hammering this home to the public as well as his slightly nice but bland 'let's make Britain a good place to work' thing, the Tories are laughing all the way to the next GE. Sadly I suspect he's rather happy with a lot of this proposed legislation as it will be a help in keeping those annoying left wing / socialist types in the labour party quiet too .It's depressing the number of times ministers and the Prime Minister have shamelessly broken the Ministerial code by lying in the House of Commons, and when an MP calls it out for what it is, she is removed from the chamber.
It will soon be a criminal offence to have a peaceful gathering in public. It will soon be a criminal offence to work in a government department and be a whistleblower. It will soon be a criminal offence to criticise the government publicly. Those acts are passing through parliament now, and will soon become law.
The boundary commission are currently gerrymandering constituency borders that will benefit the tories by between 5 and 10 seats, the government are considering banning pre election agreements between parties to stop tactical arrangements taking place, and voter ID, despite no evidence whatsoever election fraud is a problem, will soon be mandatory, which will prevent many poorer people from casting their vote.
The start of the fascism now facing us begins with an honest MP being removed from the cradle of democracy for calling out the charlatans now running the country that shamelessly lie, cheat, and deceive at every opportunity.
It will soon be a crime to criticise the government. Imagine that. Political prisoners in the UK facing up to 10 years in prison.
Where is the beat up the billionaire day and free magnum ice cream for all? This is what Labour would do if given the chance to govern .... you can tick off the ones that have been implemented or adopted by the Tories who managed to get elected on the basis of the thinnest manifesto ever produced with zero ideas.

True, but how will the average person that doesn't have much interest in politics react when that legislation hits home?Very good, but until starmer starts hammering this home to the public as well as his slightly nice but bland 'let's make Britain a good place to work' thing, the Tories are laughing all the way to the next GE. I have no idea, but we are currently sleepwalking into becoming a country many, I hope, will not recognise as one we want to live in.
You want a bike meet? Sorry, you can't do that, it's illegal. Too much noise.
You want a car meet? Sorry, it's illegal. Too much noise.
You want to go to a football match? Sorry, you'll be arrested because you are part of a crowd making too much noise.
Those may seem extreme and unbelievable examples, but the legislation now passing through parliament make those scenarios possible, and it's not something we have had to consider before. 10 years in gaol for nothing other than enjoying what we have entertained ourselves with for centuries.
Why? What is the underlying motive of this government to make gatherings like that a criminal offence?
Well, it's about silencing criticism of any sort. The tories detest it, and they are making it illegal.
The Home Secretary, Priti Patel, has been accused of bullying on numerous occasions. Whistleblowers have called her out on it, and she doesn't like it. 'How dare they' basically.
Yes, she's a bully. It's cost us taxpayers more than the price of a pint in compensation to those she has hounded out of office, but the most worrying aspect of the legislation now passing through parliament is government, not the courts, will have the power to dictate how the whistleblowers and criticisers of government live their lives.
A government minister, with all their prejudices, will have the power to dictate to anyone that dares to criticise them how they can live their lives. Who they can meet. Where they can go. When has that ever been a part of our history as a free and fair nation? It's coming, and it's coming soon.
I don't think it's got anything to do with keeping the left wing in check. It's about total power, and the really worrying aspect of the emergency powers granted to Boris Johnson at the moment is he can, if he wants, delay a general election if it's in the 'national interest'.
No, it's more than keeping Starma quiet. The legislation now passing through parliament is draconian at every level, and as I said in my first post, political prisoners in the UK are now a real possibility, and that includes members of the opposition.
We are turning into a fascist state.
It will be a criminal offence to publicly criticise the government with a potential sentence of 10 years in gaol.
Brexit really hasn't happened yet, though many think it has. We unilaterally declare Grace Periods, the EU shrug their shoulders and collectively say 'OK, if that's what you want, you can have it, but it isn't going to last forever'.The Tories know that Brexit is going to go tits up... food shortages , job losses , business closures , removal of freedoms etc they are just preparing for the outcome. ...... Civil unrest. They also know that when it does they will stand the chance of losing power... which is why they are introducing Voter Suppression legislation.
Probably the only forward planning the Conservative Party have ever done.

Too busy purging and becoming electable. Why isn't the leader of Her Majesty's opposition laying into the Tories about their unfair ( and manifesto busting) tax rises to fund social care and coming forward with Labour's proposals ( based say on the Labour 2017 manifesto).
Come on Keith, let's be 'avin you!

The EU don’t care if we have grace periods on imports. It makes life easier for them exporting to us. In the other hand they’re imposing the agreed rules which has an impact on our exports. It is the non-EU countries that are most likely to be pissed off at our grace periods because if we’re giving favourable treatment to EU imports one of them may take us to the WTO to argue that they should have the same treatment, and if they did they would win under the MFN rules.Brexit really hasn't happened yet, though many think it has. The EU are being nice to us. We are currently trading against internationally recognised rules, and it's just a question of time before the world tells us to fuck off and stand in line. That's when the shit about brexit will really hit the fan.
Voter suppression is very real. I used to think the tories couldn't get anything right by accident, but the legislation now passing through parliament is more calculating than that, and it's a concern every right thinking person should be worried about.
It's a while since I posted that, but the 1st of October is looming large and the same barriers to trade our exporters have faced this year will soon apply to exporters in the EU sending goods to the UK.The EU don’t care if we have grace periods on imports.
