The Labour Party

How long do Durham plod need. Surely, they have all the evidence they need and have been chewing over it for weeks.
.Or, are they argueing with Johnson as he doesn't like their findings

I think Durham dibble sent out questionnaires to Starmer and Rayner last week (possibly week before) so they’ll have some time to complete and return them. I imagine we will hear by end of June or perhaps even July.

You're prob correct, but I assumed as they had investigated the event previously, they would have had a head start

I thought they didn’t take any action at the time? So didn’t investigate it beyond a quick look followed by concluding there was “nowt to see here”. Now they think there might be something to see - due to this alleged new evidence - so are investigating thoroughly.

Fair enough, and I appreciate they have their day jobs to be doing, but I would have thought a one off event with just 15 attendees would be easily and quickly investigated, particularly considering the importance

I suppose it’s like all these things, you wouldn’t expect dibble to rush if you reported some garden gnomes gone AWOL but if you’d murdered your neighbour…. And Starmer having a beer is hardly crime of the century - you could argue that nor were the Downing Street parties. That’s not to say they don’t matter, they of course do but for bigger reasons than simply upholding the law.

Anybody think Starmer doesn't actually want to be leader and/or PM?

I do not get a strong feeling that he is desperately chasing the PM job.

He could and should be going for the Bozo throat but always appears to be reluctant.

Durhamgate would give him an opportunity to walk away with dignity and integrity.

Boris staying is labour's best chance of winning the next election

In two years we'll have a GE where partygate will be forgotten, COVID vaccine and Ukraine support will be in every media briefing, fuel will be cheaper. If he's still around Bozo will still pretend to be intelligent with Latin and Shakespeare quotations while wearing an endless range of hi-viz jackets.
Tax breaks and levelling up funded by the kitty being built up eg by fuel vat.
Remember austerity? Nobody else does.

Being found guilty of breaking the law would allow him to leave with dignity and integrity?

He played PMQs perfectly imo. Johnson is wrecking the tories on his own, so Starmer didn't have to waste his 5 questions looking petty.

Reported Starmer intends to return completed questionnaire soon.
