The Lack of English Players

Which English players would be good enough...?

Rooney? No thanks.
Wilshere?
Walcott?
Oxlade-Chamberlain?
Sturridge?
Gerrard?
Cahill?
Shaw?
Baines?

Of those there's only really Shaw who we could reasonably buy as the others are not going to be sold to us or aren't good enough.

We need to generate our own crop, but I guess that's what the CFA is for...

Nice to read some of the predictable comments from certain morons. However he does have a point.14 players used in the L cup final by city and not one English player among them.Nothing to do with man utd ..Get over this obsession with them. Nice to see Pellegrini sticking with the goalie though, unlike Mancini last year dropping him.

Not so much "English" but it certainly bothers me that we don't have any Mancunians in the City team.

We are missing a Mike Doyle or Paul Lake. A City fan in the team. A fellow citizen of Manchester and Citizen of Manchester. One of us wearing the shirt on the pitch.

It does bother me that we don't have this.

And, yes, I'm sure Zaba and Vincent have really grown to love Manchester and it's nice that they have. But they aren't Mancunian.

Of the current crop of English players I think Lallana would do a great job as part of our squad. I think he's a really good player and if he was Argentine or Brazilian or Spanish he'd be really rated a lot higher than he is.

Our friend nikolaiputin seems confused.
He tells us that modern life and modern football is great , sarcastically of course , but fails to spot that modernity which he seems to be having trouble with, means multi- national companies employing multi national work forces all over the world irrespective of race , creed , or colour. Sorry mate but that is the way of the world , in football or business - we're all getting past old fashioned political boundaries( you should try it - it's very mind broadening)
Touching respect for Italy though . I have been there on many occasions and I love the place , but to hold it up as a shining example of national pride is hilarious.
The rich northerners want nothing more than a split from what they see as the poor south leeching the country's wealth away ( indeed , a lot of them don't even see the south as "proper" Italy
They have some of the most corrupt politicians at all levels of government ( or " mafia" as some call it) appalling levels of racism, and just ask anyone who's been to Naples or Rome for an away match about how handy they are with a knife!
There is also a difference between running down a country , and running down the quality of its footballers ( or swimmers or accountants or whatever) , especially if you can do it constructively.
Still mr Farage would be proud of you.

I couldn't give a fuck how many English players didn't play for us, but then again, I'm not a xenophobic little englander.
As for our alleged obsession with the rags. You do realise that until this season they were our biggest rivals.
Without rivalry in football, there wouldn't really be much point to it.

I'd like to see Milner more as he's a great player and lescott because of my doubts over demi but in general pellegrini has been picking the best players at his disposal, their passports won't matter to him.

However I'd be interested to know who we could potentially get in the summer who forfills the requirements of english, the required quality and not overpriced to high heavens. The only name I have is Will Hughes personally.
