The Lack of English Players

Nice to read some of the predictable comments from certain morons. However he does have a point.14 players used in the L cup final by city and not one English player among them.Nothing to do with man utd ..Get over this obsession with them. Nice to see Pellegrini sticking with the goalie though, unlike Mancini last year dropping him.

*Beep beep*

Look, it's very simple really. Pellegrini is pragmatic and if England was developing high-end players, then we'd have more English players.

Luke Shaw is a City target, but chances are his fondness for Chelsea will see him end up there. Shaw is a rare example of a current young English talent with the level of ability and potential to play for City (as opposed to another Scott Sinclair) and City are interested in him.

If more Luke Shaws pop up, then City will probably look into signing them too. If Barkley develops some more, he could be someone City go far. City have apparently kept an eye on Ravel Morrison too, and he could be a top talent if his rotten attitude would change. But they won't sign low or mid-level talent anymore just because they're English, a mistake that has been made several times.

The way City's academy teams are developing right now, chances are we will soon develop some of the cream of the crop and won't need to spend too much money on overpriced English lads from other sides.

Like the vast majority of others I couldn't give a toss about our apparent lack of English Players - you've done well with that first post though, a mention of Mancini and the rags whilst calling posters morons, good going that mate. Look forward to your next post - just throw in a reference or two about an agenda in the press and slag off our fans for being scummy fuckers and I reckon you'll fit in a treat.

Gotta agree with the poster above we need mancunians in the team badly.

We've got two already, Vinny and Zabba.

There arent any english players who would be worth the astronomical prices we would have to pay for them. So no it doesnt bother me, if the English players were good enough then im sure we would see more in the side. In the future i can see more coming through with the Academy and its obviously something the club want to do with the amount of money we've spent on the academy. It would be fantastic if the club could produce world class players who were local lads coming through the system.

When we have World Cup winners (Silva, Navas) and African footballer of the year Yaya Toure in our team then I frankly couldn't care less, as someone mentioned earlier, the majority of English players are not at the level in which we need these days hence why the England team will be lucky to even get out of the group at the World Cup finals.
