The Lake District Is One Big Lake

Sort of thing Dave kicks into the long grass mate - why should he give a fuck in 2 years there may not be flooding and he probably won't be PM - it will be for Osborne to deal with. Its all about saving money - you will probably be saved if they can get enough people to pay for a private Fire and Rescue Service - you'll be working for G4S with only four of you to a pump but a spread sheet will show you remain cost effective.........
Fucking depressing isn't it, lives are going to be lost but they don't give a shit, after all we are now helping the ambulances out, next I'll be going to burglaries.

Too true mate - Cameron and his supporters - a good number on here - will say its about trimming the fat and cutting waste in public spending but you will clearly know thats just so much bollocks.
What annoys me is that people will have it you are over protected and over paid and have too many benefits. How dare you have a good pension that you contribute to? Makes me sick - part of the judgment people should make when choosing a job are the T&C's - people have been cowardly when challenging employers and have sold themselves too short working in places that - until now and only when they are forced by law - didn't want to give them the benefit of a workplace pension. They are then allowing themselves to be manipulated to question why you should get one? Instead of striving for the top they round on others in a jealous rage coz you have something they haven't. Disgusting. I have no sympathy for anybody who hasn't provided for their old age - its been clear as a pikestaff that relying on the Old Age Pension was a stupid thing to do. You see people driving a flash car and owning their own business moaning they hadn't got a pension !! Why the fuck not their financial adviser will be telling them a pension is the most tax efficient way o them saving but they'd rather have a Merc now and no pension than be seen in a Focus.
I have been fortunate enough to be able to chose my employment and have been contributing to a pension for over 30 years - but that was my choice. I wouldn't prostitute my skills for an employer who wants to get fat off my labours whilst not giving me what I feel is my due. There are those who devalue themselves to a silly degree
Anway rant over mate - more power to your elbow - just watching lads from Lincoln Fire and Rescue on the news in Cumbria - lets hope there are no large fires in Stamford tonight eh?

Just heard on the radio that since 2010 the Govt has cut spending on flood defences by 10% Over the same period they cut the environment agencies funding - the people who maintain existing flood defences from just over £100m to just over £60m. Cutting out the waste and unnecessary spend obviously and I bet the good folk of Cumbria are happy tonight that government is smaller - and getting smaller.
I am sure Dave will shoulder the blame - will he fuckers like.

Just got power back on, it's been off since Saturday. Never seen floods like this in Lancaster. You can't get out of Lancaster without going over or under a bridge. All bridges are closed, my work is flooded so there's no work for a few days. I know it's effected a lot of people but one thing these floods have done, theyve got people out of their homes and out talking to one another in the streets. My local pub as never been so busy, the landlord is gonna blow up the substation now the electric is back on, he's made a fortune this weekend.

Bang on, but at least with my gold plated pension, which I've obviously not been paying 14% a month towards will buy me that Ferrari and yacht in the Caribbean and ten holidays a year, it's obvious these floodings are getting worse every year as well as the terrorism threat and yes firefighters are involved more in that than people know, although that has been forced on us and now they are trying to spin it against us as people are refusing to do it, without recompense. If current cuts go through Manchester will only be covered by 30 fire engines at night, let me put that into perspective at the block of flat fires earlier this year there were 25+ engines involved, so if anything else happens we ain't coming.

there was some bad rain in Carlisle this morning when i passed through, hopefully it'll ease off again.

We can't even defend against Old Desmond in Cumbria never mind Daesh Extremists living here, how is David going to defeat this?
Droning out the water?
